Apple has ended support for the M1's Target display. This is a great solution for using your old iMac as a secondary monitor. A bit pricey but does the job. There aren't many alternatives. I tried Duet Air but the resolution is not very good.

I recently upgraded my iMac (2013) with Mac Studio and was looking for a way to use the iMac as my main monitor as the studio display and accessories would run 2k more. I saw a video of this item on YouTube and decided to give it a try and I'm glad I did! Now I can use the iMac as my primary monitor and there is no lag when using Ethernet. So far I absolutely love this product. I'm a professional video editor whose daily work includes rotoscopy and matte painting. I also travel a lot between my home studio and my office studio; I wanted something affordable and small enough to travel and work on the go. I have a 1st gen iPad Pro so Luna was the perfect answer for my needs. The ability to rotoscope with the iPad and Apple Pencil is a game changer. I think this is a fantastic product for creative Mac users.

I'm surprised that this combination works so well. I can open a large file in Photoshop 6 on my iMac, resize the window, and then drag the image and toolbar onto the iPad. The PS menu bar at the top moves automatically. It's pristine - the iMac mouse and keyboard still work great on the iPad; The Apple Pencil works great and I don't see any lag - and that's over Wi-Fi. I really wanted it to work - I hooked up my M1 Air to my iMac 27 Retina and used it as the amazing 5K display it still is. I use this product with my Dell laptop and iPad Pro and find it works great as a second screen! I've been looking for a way to add a second screen to my laptop for a long time and finally decided to take the plunge with Luna. What I've found so far: PROS - Super crisp text on static content - Works on my WiFi! I am very pleased! This is a great way to get more out of my iPad.

I bought the USBC version directly from Astropad. It's neat when it works. I just won't use it when I'm online. My personal use was to make my late 2014 iMac 27 an additional monitor for my M1 MacBook Air. The software is easy to use and install and is regularly updated. I wanted to use two screens for a product called Sharescope that contains graphs and tables. The resolution in the iMAC target was unacceptable when compared to the program when directly downloading to only one screen of the device (either iMAC or Main M1 Mac mini). Screen resolution selection on the primary and target devices did not improve target resolution, color, or contrast, and some tables remained unreadable.

The Luna's display is pretty good overall and delivers what it promises. However, make sure you do your research on your needs. This works with both Windows and Mac devices, but again make sure you know how you're going to use it. I had to send mine back because after a little research I found I didn't need it after all. USB-C does not work on desktop PCs. The HDMI version works well with my RTX graphics card on Windows 10 on initial setup. I'll update it when I have time to test it with different programs.

I was looking for a solution to use my laptop and a new Mac model (to use the big screen). In a conversation with Apple, this is impossible! However, the moon makes this possible. There is a small delay in time, but it helps. Thank you, my eyes have become much happier :)

The block stopped working after a few months. I spent almost 2 weeks going back and forth with them to fix the problem. (After spending a lot of time trying to fix the problem myself) I finally got tired of wasting time and left. They did not offer me a return of the device or an alternative solution.
