Solid but basic electomagnetic lock

I used this electromagnetic lock to make a childproof drawer in a bedside table, and it's worked great so far! I used a 9 volt battery and a push button momentary switch, and there haven't been any issues. One thing to keep in mind is that if the power supply is removed (i.e. the battery dies) then the lock stays in the "locked" position. I just wired it so that the battery is accessible when the drawer is closed.

Pros
  • The extra 2 wires I don't know or understand why they are there
Cons
  • The electronic lock may fail due to power outages or battery depletion

Compact and Sturdy best in my review

I use the lock for a project that I am working on. So far I am happy with the performance. Installing it for a perfect fit is a bit of a challenge and I wish it came with adjustable brackets. Practice installing it on a test door before you install it on the actual door. There is an ingenious way of installing it perfectly using foam and double sided tapes.

Pros
  • Works great and strong hold.
Cons
  • The lock may malfunction, preventing access even with the correct method of entry

Used for a hay feeder!

I'm using this for a timed automatic livestock feeder! A shelf opens from near the horse shelter ceiling, and the hay falls down!

Pros
  • ‎No
Cons
  • The lock's electronic components may be difficult or expensive to repair or replace if damaged

Cons
  • The lock may not be compatible with all types of 12V power sources

Broke in just a few months

The lock worked great for about 4 months and then suddenly stopped working. The mechanism would no longer reset no matter what I did.

Pros
  • Worked great in my escape room. Easy to wire and mount, reliable.
Cons
  • The lock's power requirements may increase overall energy usage and costs

Great Device - my new review

Used this cabinet lock solenoid to lock an outside attic door with a power supply and wireless remote - strong and holds the door shut plus with the wireless, I can easily open it.

Pros
  • Buen ítem para proyectos pequeños de electrónica
Cons
  • The lock's compact size may make it easy to misplace or lose

Works exactly as demonstrated

When I saw the video demonstration I thought for sure that it had to be bs but, it really does rocket the latch out of the lock. There's a very powerful spring that is compressed and held into place when the lock is engaged and released by the electro magnet when triggered with 12v. Disengaging the lock is very satisfying and it makes a cool metallic ping noise. Haven't used the extra wires yet for logic feedback as I only triggered it manually with a battery but, should be easy to implement…

Pros
  • Works great exactly what I wanted
Cons
  • The compact size may make it difficult to install for those with larger hands or limited mobility

Nice project lock! best in my review

Awesome little actuators. I’ve been looking for a strong, yet small device to release a door when it receives a trigger from a wireless controller. these locks work PERFECT! Surprisingly powerful, strong build (everything is metal) and the latch can be used from the side as well. see pics.I took it apart and it’s a very simple system, but seems like it will last a long time. Lots a wasted space inside the housing which I’m going to use to hide some electronics hopefully. Using a small 12v…

Pros
  • Awesome
Cons
  • The lock's electronic components may be prone to wear and tear over time
