Good bang for your buck.

I didn't want to spend a lot of money to mount a spare tire on my boat trailer. This fits with no problems. My only issue is that the mounts don't quite fit onto the rim. They don't have a tapered bottom like a jam nut to center them in the hole, and they don't come with a washer or anything to avoid scratching the rim. I had to put the rim on the frame because there was too much of it to fit on the side, no big deal but it will still scratch the rim if you tighten it. It works and I have…

Inexpensive replacement bracket that works

This works as it should. However, make sure your trailer frame will fit the bolt. It would be more convenient if there was something in the kit to attach the bolt to the frame (drill a few small holes and attach a light strap). This would make it much easier to mount the wheel on the stud. Also, it takes a minute or two to twist the attachment straps down toward the wheel. I don't think there is a way here. for the price it's pretty good. If your trailer frame is oriented so that the lock is on

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Some little things

Laying the part horizontally on a square tube the same width as the inside of the "U" makes assembly/disassembly fairly easy. Otherwise, the vertical spare and smaller frame becomes juggling. DISADVANTAGES: * For reasons of strength, the thread must have at least the diameter of the screw. that's about 1/4 the normal depth. Instead of the threads (just over 2 threads) of the stop piece, a nut should have been welded to the stop piece. * Easy to cross thread. If you do this, just drill and add…

Good for the right rim.

It's okay. I think this is a sensible alternative to other forms of spare wheel mounting. I've looked at LOTS of them because I have a very specific place I want to put one (behind the trailer door). Simple design. The locking method is very intelligent and convenient. It's pretty easy to secure it and have a lock. The fact that the stud is a perfect rectangle means you can mount it in many places including drilling a hole in a trailer wall to mount it. Others that are similar don't have…
