Description of Audiolab 6000A: 100-Watt Stereo Integrated Amp with Bluetooth DAC - Silver

An amplifier remains the beating heart of any high-performance audio system, but in 2018 a truly versatile integrated amp needs to cover many bases – digital and analogue sources, wireless connectivity for portable devices, a phono stage to cater for vinyl playback, amplification for headphones as well as speakers... That’s a lot to pack in, whilst keeping performance high and the price tag affordable – and yet, that’s exactly what the 6000A delivers. Outwardly, the 6000A bears strong resemblance to the 8300A with its rotary controls and large, central OLED display. Unlike its costlier, analogue-only sibling, it incorporates high-quality D/A conversion, enabling digital sources to be connected directly without an external DAC. It supplies four digital inputs, three line-level analogue inputs, an input for a turntable, wireless connectivity via Bluetooth and a dedicated headphone amp, in addition to its ability when driving loudspeakers. Much effort has been made to ensure the 6000A’s digital circuitry delivers the level of quality one might expect of a high-performance standalone DAC. As ever, Audiolab has turned to the ES9018 Sabre32 Reference chip family to perform D/A conversion, utilising ESS Technology’s 32-bit HyperStream architecture and Time Domain Jitter Eliminator to deliver ultra-low noise and high dynamic range. The 6000A’s discrete Class AB power amp stage delivers 50W per channel into eight ohms, with a maximum current delivery of 9 Amps into difficult loads. The output stage of the discrete power amp circuits uses a CFB (Complementary Feedback) topology, ensuring superior linearity and excellent thermal stability, as the idle current is kept independent of the temperature of the output transistors. In recognition of the recent vinyl revival, Audiolab has included a phono stage for moving magnet phono cartridges – a high-quality, low-noise, JFET-based circuit with precise RIAA equalisation. Similarly, an increasing number of people are using headphones for music listening, so Audiolab has incorporated a dedicated headphone amp with current-feedback circuitry.

Just super, the product is made wonderfully, very satisfied.

After the Chinese (Emotive) or the Japanese (Denon 1500) with their turbidity and blurry detail, this is of course a revelation in sound. So many new details in seemingly familiar records. more than necessary and it’s not lubricated like in the Denon 1500, but clear with a punch with a punch. The power of 75 watts per channel doesn’t seem to be much, but it pumps the pillars just like that, 60000 microfarads of Japanese ELNA in the power supply do their job. The stereo panorama is wide. There…

Pros
  • The sound is in the first place in this amplifier. Strict English design. Assembled on exceptionally high-quality components (ELNA 60000 microfarad capacitors are cool, OMRON relay, toroid). The remote control is large.
Cons
  • In principle, there can be no minuses for such sound quality.

A normal product, but they wanted more for the money.

There was a desire to try the "English" amplifier, since for many years I used only "Japanese" ones. I also wanted to be able to easily transmit a signal from gadgets to an amplifier, without losing the actual high-quality analog amplifying capabilities. It's good that before ordering there was an opportunity to listen to this amplifier in the cabin. Unfortunately, the noise (hum) of the transformer was revealed . Perhaps a special case. Alas, I didn't manage to switch to the English sound. So…

Pros
  • Construction, simple modern design. The presence of a high-quality DAC, a large number of inputs, including digital ones, as well as a good phono stage. An excellent opportunity to transmit a high-resolution signal from gadgets via Bluetooth to the amplifier.
Cons
  • The presence of the hum of a toroidal transformer. Boring-rustic exterior finish.

I was surprised by the quality for this price.

Accordingly, you definitely don’t expect the sound quality from an amplifier at this price and such power. The sound is so transparent, detailed and correct, with such powerful dynamics it plays out the sound differences perfectly. plays more interesting and more energetic than its older brother 8300, which is too smooth and refined. weakly although they are considered tight. No wonder it is the Audiolab 6000a that the famous Wait HIFI highlights as the best amplifier of 2022-21 By the way…

Pros
  • The sound is groovy with punch, the cleanest, super detailed from top to bottom in bass. Exceptional workmanship. The best Japanese components in this price category are OMRON, Nihicon, ELNA. The body is made of a thick piece of metal, metal handles. big remote control.
Cons
  • For this quality of performance and sound is not.

Not enough power for big speakers

This little amp has good sound qualities like good bass, clear mids and airy highs, but if you have 4 ohm speakers or a full room, better look for something else. I also don't have a subwoofer, which is a must for a small amp. I have to return mine. Do your research before you buy. it is too expensive.

Bad Bluetooth best in amplifiers

My Audiolab 6000A arrived in 2 days. When I took it out of the shipping box, I noticed that the 6000A's box had been opened and sealed. So it looks like it's a throwback. This was NOT stated in the product description. However, the price was $200 less than the other 6000A. I should have known something was wrong, but I figured it was because it was silver and not black. However, it played beautifully and sounded great. The problem is that it doesn't connect to my phone or mp3 player via…
