My friend bought one of the Matco tools which is more expensive than this one and we put them side by side and there was no difference and they work the same.

So it works but not quite as advertised. Definitely get the suggested thicker studs to weld to the crumpled area, the original flimsy studs on my stud welder won't hold. I also had to get an extended set of electrodes to properly weld a series of thick studs. Pulling out a deep crease, he wriggled heavily on the tool and the little hex that comes with the kit. I was hoping for the hardware to be a bit bigger, but it works well.
