The term "egocentric" is somewhat ambitious. Revain makes great bargain purchases from time to time. This is a difficult pass for me. It was off center by more than 1/16 inch.

Not as easy to install as I thought. It doesn't center very well during and after tightening. You'll have to pry it in place to center it. There are very thin markings showing the centerline of each hole, but they are very difficult to see. Once you set it up it will work very well.

When drilling the 3/4 plate I thought it looked off center but I trusted the tool and used it anyway. I had to measure after the first hole. 2 panels were 1/8 off because the holes weren't centered. I then did some 2x4 cuts to see how bad they were and I think the picture speaks for itself. On the one hand 20% more. Terribly useless as a self-centering device.

Considering the price of this tool I expected it to be of much higher quality than it actually is. The centering capabilities of this tool are not very good. The tool worked but I had to tighten it every time I used it. I also had to be careful which way I had the tool for each board I added the dowel to to make sure they lined up when I was done. The tool worked, but I think it could have been a lot better.

Complete garbage. One of the worst things I've bought from Revain. The jaws clamp unevenly, meaning one side of the fixture is about 1/32 inch. That means you can't turn it upside down. And that means you can't use the width of the jig for distance. THIS IS THE ESSENCE OF SUCH A JIG. It's not a built-in problem, it's a design flaw. registration marks clearly do not match drilled holes. So when you mark your pieces of wood to line up the dowels and line them up with the registration marks on your unit, the holes aren't where they should be. When you join pieces of wood with a dowel, they move about 1/32" to 1/16" apart. There is no way to correct this inconsistency. The license plates were moved from the factory. This makes it very difficult to use this device to get well aligned dowels.

Great thing! The coolest jig from China I've bought. In typical Chinese style, instead of using a locking ring to attach a threaded collar, they simply secure the collar with a pair of threaded fasteners and washers.
