I'm not sure why all the negative reviews.

Almost perfect for me - should have ordered years ago - with "helping hands" and a vise that works but isn't as flexible. It's a good size - big enough for any board I work on, metal base, 4 screws to assemble. Hasn't been used - at the moment my only concern is that the levers are plastic and the set screws don't hold the platter very tight. This can cause the circuit board to twist during operation. Will be updated if problems arise. Ok, update, although I haven't had any problems yet. I've…

Pros
  • Good thing
Cons
  • Some difficulties

Great for small to medium sized printed circuit boards (PCBs)

Great for small to medium sized printed circuit boards (PCBs). The screw is tighter so the board doesn't turn when I work on the board (I put something under the board to hold it in place). I also want those two width adjustment knobs to be on the same side instead of going to the other side to go to the other. The problems I have shown are mainly due to the fact that I am OLD and there is no easy job for me now. My old way was (electronic vise) which only holds one side but can hold boards of…

The price is cheap, as is the device.

It's cheap and it's true. If you're on a tight budget, it does the job. My biggest complaint is that the base is too big and takes up a lot more space than some of the others on the bank where real estate is more expensive. I find the adjustment to different board sizes awkward as the legs move with it. The good ones usually have a heavier base to make them stable and not take up as much space. They are adjustable with a simple adjustment. But of course they cost about $40 + cheap construction,

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Good but not great

If you buy this clip you MUST add this part.

Overall I think this adjustable clip is fantastic. It's versatile for small panel work as the teeth have multiple recesses for different clamping configurations. When using this I noticed that when I rotated the board in a certain direction it seemed to resist rotation and when it rotated I heard a grating noise along with a "pop". After a while, I noticed small pieces of plastic appearing on the bottom beam, leading me to believe the popping sound was coming from the spring ripping the plastic

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Minor issues

Decent holder for beginners, with some caveats

For the price, this is a decent, sturdy PCB holder that will serve you well with some caveats initially. Helping hands/crocodile clip holders or just working right on my desk. On circuit boards that have components mounted near the outside edges of the board, it can be difficult or impossible to find a safe place to grip with a vise without colliding with the components and possibly bending or damaging them. While this is currently my favorite PCB storage device, it's not a one-size-fits-all…

Pros
  • Retractable to hold boards of various sizes up to 198mm wide and up to 4mm thick
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

A good product. - Welders and accessories

I don't know why there are so many bad reviews. The twist lock could be stiffer and the verticals could be metal. But if they were metal, it would cost at least $50. I'm glad the jaws are metal and the other two pieces are just extruded aluminum tubing making them inexpensive to manufacture, but if they were cast aluminum posts you could easily expect triple the price. All screws have metal threaded inserts which is way better than a lot of the cheap stuff on Amazon. If you are concerned about…

Pros
  • Base rubber feet for stability
Cons
  • Expensive

From a purely functional point of view it works and is better than nothing. The casual amateur can handle it. The construction is very cheap - thin lightweight plastic, ill-fitting threaded knobs for adjustment, and no vertical adjustment. The claim that it allows 360 degree rotation is mostly false. Technically, this is true if you're running on a very small board. But it only has 2 inches of vertical clearance above the bottom rail. So if your board is more than 4 inches wide you will not be…

  • Sturdy metal construction

  • Not bad, but...
