Improved brake reliability

My original levers were plain Avid and I was told these levers would make my mechanical brakes amazing. I have BB7 calipers. They really gave them a hydraulic feel depending on how I adjusted the red knobs. When fully tuned to one page, they feel sluggish but give you better modulation possibilities. Twist them in the opposite direction and you'll get very quick brakes, but they'll lock up quicker. Needless to say, I'm still recruiting them. I paid my $20 to install them, bringing my total…

Good brake levers for straight handlebars

These are well made and solid basic brake levers for bikes with more or less straight handlebars. My back was getting too old for the drop bars, so I converted my old road bike into some sort of hybrid with trail bike bars and a softer saddle. This necessitated replacing the brake levers and they seem like a good choice to work with the new Shimano cables. My favorite cable brake levers are almost as good as hydraulic brake levers

For first time buyers based on reviews this brake lever set is my personal favorite. They are standard on my recumbent trike, paired with Avid BB7 disc brakes and Avid G2 rotors. I've had a lot of bikes and each one has different brakes. There were Tektro brakes which looked like a joke as they were so bad and didn't work as well as rim brakes. I've also ridden road bikes that have pretty poor brakes (designed for light weight and speed rather than stopping) but they work when needed. However…
