We used it on a house that was flooded 3 weeks ago. The readings appear to be very accurate which wood studs require longer drying times than others. I'm no expert, but I've found that wood studs with around 7.5% moisture seem to have good moisture levels and those with 16+% still hold plenty of moisture. They need extra days to dry before being covered again. The alarm works great when higher humidity is detected. Very happy with this product!

I purchased this specifically to test the moisture content of hardwoods such as maple, mahogany and walnut used for woodworking. They're specified in the calibration settings, so it should work with that, right? no It works great on soft maple and cedar, but after a few tries, including pushing the tines in so hard I was afraid of breaking the plastic body, I couldn't read anything on anything harder. The walls looked fine, but the moisture meter showed a different story. The walls were soaked. Used this to find walls and insulation that needed replacing.
