Description of B Engine Control Mercruiser 805224A1

New IAC (Idle Air Control) for Mercruiser and Volvo Penta engines. Replaces Mercury Mercruiser 805224A1. MCM/MIE GM V-6 and V-8 (305, 350, 454 and 502 cid) EFI engines. Symptoms of a failed IAC can be rough idle, fluctuating idle, engine stalls when coming down from full throttle, hard to start or high rpm on start.

NOT an exact replacement for Mercruiser 805224A1

If your wiring harness has enough slack to connect then this will likely work for you. The connector is on the opposite side of the original part. It looks like it will fit like the original, but the screw holes don't line up when the cable connector is in the correct orientation.

Harness connector location

Plug connection during reassembly. Essentially, the valve is assembled into a mounting cylinder with two asymmetrical stems, then the assembly is secured with a fixed position pin. This item will work on a 5.7 liter MEFI3 TBI Mercruiser but will require the use of a pigtail to get to the connector location. Complicated to say the least. This plug faces upwards, which can make it vulnerable to moisture. My OEM pointed to the rear. Found an alternative source for a lot more money for the correct…
