Doesn't stay sharp for long

Can't seem to keep sharp. I used it to save time sanding white oak. About 15 strokes and his edge disappeared wherever it touched the wood. So file and polish, 15-20 marks on the edge are gone.

Pros
  • That's fantastic
Cons
  • Great price

They are hard to find

Excellent steel with sharp edges. I have used this for mounting ax heads/axe heads and general wood cleaning work. My old one went missing and I'm glad I found it. They're ideal when you need to sharpen a lot, but not enough for a knife or plane. They also last much longer than sandpaper.

Disappointed Best in Paint, Wall Treatments & Supplies

I know cutting tools often come without a blade but I have bought many scrapers in the past including Bahco and never had this problem. I bought this unit as a gift and when I took the receiver to the store to demonstrate its use, dust formed instead of shavings, a clear sign of poor sharpening. It's kind of frustrating trying to show a novice scraper how comfortable they are.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Thin

Doesn't hold the edge

The steel in this scraper won't hold the edge for more than 4 or 5 minimum strokes. While no scraper lasts long, I have used other scrapers with much better edge retention than this one. I would suggest looking for other options. I have sharpened it several times. I can make a good hook that produces small chips, but it won't hold. This isn't my first scraper so I have a good idea of what to expect.

It works exactly as delivered.

I don't know what to say about the cupboard scraper but I'll try. This tool is useless (just a piece of steel) if not properly ground and polished. Bahco is ready. This is used for tilling onions where the onion branches are made of hickory. If you're not familiar with hickory, it's a little tricky to work with. A tool that is not sharp or improperly prepared will pull the fibers out of the wood. The Bahco scraper has not yet passed a clean pass without problems. I am satisfied with this tool…

High quality card scraper. One day I learned how to properly sharpen one.

This is the first tool I've discovered and I honestly wonder how I managed without it. Card scrapers are a secret weapon for cleaning boards that can greatly reduce the amount of sanding required. I would say that with proper sharpening you can get a finish equivalent to sanding with 220-300 grit. The hardest part is learning how to properly sharpen the blade. The process is almost voodoo and everyone has a very different method. But it's worth knowing how to do it. Watch all the videos on You…

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Unreliable

I bought three of these. They are made in Portugal. I don't know why they didn't state that clearly in the product description. some may feel cheated. They weren't sharp (like every card stripper I know) but took me no more than a minute to sand them down and get great results. I didn't have to file and sandstone the edges before polishing. If I had prepared them properly, my results could probably have been even better. The steel worried me a lot: if it was too hard then it was a titanic task…

Small. Labor required to drill and use evenly

Working with a scraper only 2.5 inches high is inconvenient. Combined with the thicker .80 caliber, there isn't much choice on how to hold it. You can't hold it by the sides with both hands, you have to put both hands on it. Your hands need more room to grab it, and my hands are smaller than most people's who are going to use a scraper. But traditionally I think it's average height. It requires work to prepare AND use the card…. constant. It fits almost any closet scraper. You can either pull…
