Runs less than 'Balega Hidden Comfort'

With a pair of size 14 feet it's hard to find XL socks that are truly XL and still of decent quality. The Balega 'Hidden Comfort' line is just the right size. I measured these XL "Ultralight" next to "Hidden COMfort" and not only are they half an inch smaller, but after washing and shrinking they are no longer XL. At such a high price I expected more and will not be ordering the "Ultra Light" version again as they (XL) are unusable for the US size 14ft after one wash. They were too tight even…

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Could have gone for a newer model

They live for cheating.

I made fun of the people who dedicated the right and left socks. I also made fun of the people who couldn't stop admiring Balega socks. (I spend a lot of time ultra and marathon runners, so socks are a common thing. We're an interesting bunch.) Anyway, I'll shut up for now because it's really magical. I don't know how to describe them other than "silky" but that's the feel you get with them and it's pretty cool. But be careful, these are Gateway socks and chances are you'll soon need 6 more…

Worth saving my tired legs from constant calf cramps

I went to Fleet Feet and was told I have inflexible arches because they are very high. I was recommended to buy Superfeet GREEN Full Length Insole Size B in addition to the Balega socks and life has been a lot better since then. Sure, they were more expensive, but I have more energy during the day and don't come home with sore feet after a day at work. I work as a nurse and am on my feet 12 hours a day. I came home and had leg cramps every night with very achy, tired legs; However, this…

Great socks terrible quality

These socks look good, they are comfortable and very breathable. I've been wearing them for almost two years but I refuse this brand because the quality is terrible. they are garbage. I have to buy new ones about every two months and $15 a pair is ridiculous. I ran Cherry Blossom 10 miles a few weeks ago and got a huge blister on my big toe because the sock had a hole in it. Of course I threw it away. Just yesterday I discovered my other thumb was bleeding through my boot due to a hole in the…

Balega converts for Sport Special Clothing

I used to buy all socks that were flimsy and cheap. A sock is a sock, right? It turns out I was wrong. I first found them at Fleet Feet in Scottsdale while trying on new shoes. They gave me a sock to try on and it was incredibly comfortable and thin. It turns out it was Balega. Because this version is very light and breathable yet still fits snugly to the foot, they really reduce any rubbing or irritation you might experience with cheaper/loose socks. They are of course seamless, which is a…

Hole in sock after 5 socks

I bought 6 pairs of these socks for Christmas to give to the men in my family. Three of them, including my husband, are training for the Ironman competition. My brother-in-law recommended this brand to me. At 2 p.m., a pair is expensive, but he raves about it. The husband has worn these socks 5 times at most and there is a hole in the sock - not from the bottom but from above the sock. I don't think this should happen after only wearing it 5 times. Unfortunately the return window has clearly…

Check sizing under socks

I received my pair and I liked the quality of the socks but found I had to stretch a lot to put them on. This was my first pair of Balega socks and I figured that might be part of it: they needed to be stretched but they still fit properly. I've worn them a few times and haven't had any issues, but the extreme stretch bothered me. I then tried on two more pairs of Balega socks that I had ordered and I think they fit well. It was clear that the first pair was at least a size smaller, if not two,
