Disappointment in Portable Audio Video

I was glad to get this radio. I hate leaving negative reviews but this radio sucks! Five minutes out of the box, and the menu button and button 5 need to be pressed really hard to work. I tried dealing with this and after 20 minutes button 5 stopped working no matter how you pressed it. What a disappointment. Just junk and of course with no quality control when it leaves the factory. I love the radio and am tempted to buy another one but a friend who has spent his entire rise in radio told meโ€ฆ

Decent "one off " HT

Makes a decent "one off" HT compared to my much more expensive Japanese HTs. If I drop/break/lose it, I only lose a few dollars (instead of hundreds). I like the size and the design; surprisingly durable feel and performance. The display on this model ("reverse display") is difficult to read on the road. An S-Meter that looks like a cell phone is NOT an S-Meter. This is a redundant busy/TX/RX indicator and will show half bars when operating in TX mode with low power. I would give it 5 stars ifโ€ฆ

slimmer, more ergonomic packaging, which I really liked

After buying 6 early Baofeng transceivers, I expected more. First let me say that I actually accidentally ordered this when I clicked one touch order on my ipad. I immediately went and canceled the order but guess what, I got it anyway. So I decided to just keep it. The first observations are that the packaging of the device is much nicer, a slimmer, more ergonomic packaging, which I really liked, otherwise the radio is almost the same, mainly cosmetic. I do not feel that the performance hasโ€ฆ

Reliable little radio on Portable Audio & Video

I bought this radio after using Baofeng UV-5R for some time. This radio uses the same accessories as the UV-5R and the programming is identical. I can load the same image in both UV-5R and BF-F8+. The BF-F8+ is said to have a better RF interface, but I don't see a huge difference yet. Like the UV-5R, the BF-F8+ is a great radio for the money. I would have given 5 stars if it wasn't for a small glitch in the display. The BF-F8+ display has white characters on a black background. The displayโ€ฆ

Not a bad radio for the money.

After many unsuccessful attempts using Foscam/Revain UV-5RV2+ radios to get multiple radios with the same firmware version, I decided to try the Baofeng Tech/Revain BF-F8+. The radios cost a few dollars more, but I wanted a radio with identical firmware (programming and functionality issues). I received the radio from Baofeng Tech today. Good news: they have exactly the same firmware and same as my first Foscam UV-5RV2+. Here's the bad news. Baofeng Tech walkie-talkies look cheap. The name isโ€ฆ

The display is better than some say.

Some reviews say the display is annoying or difficult to read. I didn't find it as bad as some say. Granted, you can't read much with the backlight off, but I rarely have to look at the screen to check anything. When the wireless interface is actively used, the backlight turns on. When the backlight is on, the screen is excellent. If you need to turn on the backlight, simply pressing the exit button turns it on without changing the display (usually the menu exits before the backlight turns on).

  • great product

  • crumpled packaging

Best value radio on the market - everything exactly as advertised

Best value radio on the internet for my purposes. The order was received very quickly, everything works as advertised. I use a radio for paragliding and it's great to have two frequencies as you can switch between the two frequencies with just a push of a button. I also have an expensive Yaseu radio and the PTT button failed within 30 days so decided to buy something less expensive while the Yaseu was being repaired. I will not go back to Yaseu and sell it now that I know BaoFeng. The BaoFengโ€ฆ

worth every penny. But don't expect it to hold up like a $300 radio.

Great little radio. I bought this radio for my speakerphone. FTDI BaoFeng programming cable for UV-82/BF-F8HP/BF-F8+/GT-3/UV-5R models works great for this radio. And for Mac users, CHIRP and the FTDI driver from the FTDI website work great. Just remember to select UV-5R from the menu or it won't work. I also received an AA battery pack adapter. instead of a LION rechargeable battery, as these are not readily stored for months without being recharged. If storing this type of battery for moreโ€ฆ

Best Value Dual Band Radio HAM HT

This has to be the best radio at an affordable price. I can't believe the functionality for less than $40. It covers rx/tx on the 2M, 70CM HAM, Marine bands and FRS/GRMS, MUR and most commercial bands. The icing on the cake is that I can receive NOAA weather and local FM radio stations. Difficult to program by hand and the manual does not properly explain how to program repeaters in memory with offset, CTSS tones etc (private tone tones required). also for GRMS). I was able to do this with some
