This update is a must! 1996 Royal Star

You are telling the truth. This is a required update. My 1996 Royal Star No clutch change, 25,000 miles on it. It feels like I changed them after this update. The bike rides like new. Mandatory upgrade. (I didn't remove the oil and had no problems. On the side stand. Maybe a few drops. When you get the job done make sure you have some extra razor blades, the washer is the hardest part of the job. Covering the basket clutch , so that the old gasket doesn't fall in. 1.5 hours, including a trip to

Works perfectly! the best spare parts

This was definitely an upgrade from Yamaha's factory clutch spring. After adjusting, I was told that the clutch began to slip in 3rd and 4th gears and the store asked for $1200 to replace the clutch. After a little checking of the symptoms I found that the clutch spring was the most common culprit and that was a major improvement over the OEM. The price was right, so I decided to start there. That was 3 years ago and we haven't had any problems with the clutch since. Keep in mind that this is a

Barnet clutch in parts

. My 2005 Yamaha Road Star clutch started to slip at highway speeds. I ordered a barnet clutch to replace an OEM spring clutch. The replacement is precision made and fits perfectly. Installation is very easy, removing and replacing took about two hours. Be sure to remove any old gasket and replace with a new one. I used some blue Permitex to make sure it didn't leak. Oil changed and driven. The bike rides like any other bike. The friction point on the clutch is different and the force on the…

Good product. One of the best mods for my bike.

VERY good quality product, professionally packaged with all parts. Simple instructions included. The machine work looks very good and the bearings are VERY smooth and lubricated. Now that I've ridden my bike a few hundred miles, I'm even more impressed with this product. The clutch lever is stiffer, as you would expect from a heavier spring; But after a few hours I no longer notice the change. The grip point (or friction zone) is smaller than before, but not to a critical extent. Once fully…

It didn't work - the teeth were turned the wrong way

A defective part came from an obviously inferior batch of poorly made parts. Essentially, the teeth were machined a bit thicker than necessary, which in turn rendered the part inoperable ((hub) didn't fit in the clutch housing). So after everything was set up correctly for me, I started the bike and put it in gear. After releasing the clutch, my bike would not move in gear. I even adjusted the clutch but it turned out to be just a bad part. I spent hours thinking I did something wrong taking…

Parts Worth Every Penny

Absolute turning point for my 2003 Road Star. Road Star and V Star motorcycles have a habit of slipping the clutch under hard acceleration. This is due to the diaphragm spring design they use. I paired a Barnett clutch plate with new OEM Yamaha friction and steel plates. Mine had 53,000 on them and they were still in good condition but figured I'd swap them out while I still had the main open. Most people think the records are actually okay and Barnett is all it takes. Barnett replaces the…

Royal Star XVZ13 1996 Yamaha - Perfect fit. Excellent goods!

Perfect for my 1996 Yamaha Royal Star XVZ13. You'll know it's in the right position if it wobbles a bit before you put the screws in. If it lays flat and doesn't wobble with no screws, you're against the boss' teeth, screw a screw hole. Before installing the cover, check the movement of the clutch. Be sure to use motorcycle oil! I didn't know there was a difference between car and motorcycle oil. Your wet clutch needs special oil, otherwise it will slip over time. The Barnett clutch disc was…

Just amazingly good in drivetrain and transmission

I bought my '07 Roadstar Silverado (with a few additional engine mods) last spring of 2012 and immediately noticed clutch slip when I beans it in 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear gave. I attributed it to user error for the first few months, but then I realized it happens even when I know the clutch is fully engaged. It was something I should have addressed at some point, but since it ONLY happened when I actually pressed the accelerator, it wasn't too urgent. But what drove me nuts was that I had all…
