This is hard plastic. Not metal. I used it once and with a light test. I'm not impressed and would have preferred the plated metals that KitchenAid itself endorses. Should have read the description more carefully before buying.

Despite many bad reviews I bought this for my wife and found it superior to the Kitchenaid Stand Mixer. This eliminates the need to use a spatula to clean out the bowl and to stop and start the blender. Must be part of the original product. Withstands constant washing in the dishwasher without any problems.

I love this new hammer! I just made a chocolate banana cake that usually involved scraping down the sides of the bowl, adding ingredients, and whisking several times. Did it once. without scratching, without stopping. Since it's new I don't know how durable it is, but it will be updated over time. I didn't bother to wash it in the dishwasher as it is very easy to hand wash.

I had one like this before and used it for years. Mine broke from trying to mix something too thick. But I ordered another one because it lasted many years and I feel it's my fault that it broke. It's plastic, but the low price compared to others makes it worth it. I like the rubber on the outside. You don't have to throw away the bowl all the time. This is the best feature. Very satisfied.

I got this a year and a half ago and I really like it as it scratches the sides of the bowl and makes life a lot easier. then he decided to take a break today :( I was baking bread and the dough was still a bit sticky and I know I've used it in the past with drier dough. I gave 1 out of 5 points because . 0 is not an option. This lasted about 2 months (right outside the return window) and then crashed in the database. This is clearly only enough for light work. It broke while kneading cookie dough, and that's the main thing it's used for. Others (metal) lasted about 10 years each before the coating started to wear off. This didn't last 2 months. I LOVE this product, it's well made and gets the job done, it really cuts down on the time it takes to get things ready without the Sides of bowl need to be wiped when using this blade. However, make sure you set the blender to the ideal level so that it wipes the bowl but doesn't hit the bowl (and therefore break or make noise).
