Recommended best filter

It's actually a man filter, at least mine. In fact, Beck Arnley did very little to hide this fact. Upon opening Beck Arnley's box, I was greeted by a smaller Mann's box placed inside. As a lover of the "Mann” brand of filters, I was pleasantly surprised. The quality is excellent and the fit is perfect for my 1983 Mercedes 300SD.

Pros
  • Best in niche
Cons
  • Expensive

Mann filter (and box) in a Beck/Arnley box. Ideal for MB 300SEL.

There was a Mann box in the Beck/Arnley box. Inside the Mann box was a Mann filter. I like Mann filters so I have no problem with that. Even if it seemed a little strange. The filter was perfect for my 1989 Mercedes 300SEL. Needle nose pliers work well to remove the old filter. The picture shows what I received.

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • Very Expensive

Great power steering filter replacement on my 1991 560SEL

Great power steering filter replacement on my 1991 560SEL. I have combined it with Febi-Bilstein CHF 11S power steering fluid to do a full power steering service on a car. I flushed out all the old liquid and replaced the filter after about 20 minutes. A great service to consider to keep your gaskets and hoses from going bad and leaking around your garage.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Some bugs

Draws most liquid with turkey nozzle

Fits, works and continues to work. This is a high mileage car and it's time to service the power steering pump. Pumped out most of the liquid with a turkey nozzle, pulled out the old filter (blackened) that did the job, put in a new filter, filled to the brim and capped. Tank opened after a few weeks and everything looks fine. The steering is light, no leaking or annoying noises.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Requires an outlet

Excellent (and necessary) DIY maintenance item

As another reviewer noted, this filter is oddly double-bagged, like a Mann filter in a Beck/Arnley box. Not a big deal as the filter fits my '94 E320 perfectly and does exactly what it's supposed to. A quick picture alongside shows how dirty a filter can be. Used the Dollar Store turkey dipping method to extract the old liquid into an empty mason jar, then inserted the plastic plunger, removed the 10mm lock nut, pulled out the old filter with long needle nose pliers, then turned on the machine…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Doubtful
