🔧 Enhanced Beck Arnley 084-0447 Drum Brake Hardware Kit for Improved Performance Review

My buddy and I just rebuilt the brakes on my first daughters 1973 Super Beetle. We replaced the front drum brakes with discs and remade the rear drum brakes. This kit worked perfectly and the car stops much better than before.

This is a good replacement drum brake kit. However, the nail pieces that came with the kit are about 1/4 inch shorter than my 1970 VW Beetle drums. I used half of these as they were about to fully compress the springs when I turned the detent. Ring.

Garage says fit 1979 Super Beetle. It's not, almost everything in the kit isn't. 1 pen is correct. This may be due to an early bug. It's definitely for something with narrow pads. The pins are too short, the spring (for pins) is too long, the short springs are too short. As for the components, this is a decent quality set. Those are simply not the dimensions for the Super Beetle.

I ordered these because my original parts were slightly rusty. The pins that hold the pads are shorter by about 1/8 inch. They contained 2 sets of pins and even the longer ones were not the same as the original. The springs holding the pads are so strong it was impossible to get hold of them. Squeeze these together enough to use the new pins. 2 springs between the shoes are fine, but the shoe springs cannot be used.

I couldn't find these parts anywhere else so I really didn't have a lot to choose from. The parts don't seem to last as long as the used parts I took out of my car. Let's see how they behave over time. So I kept the used parts in case they didn't last. They are made in China. I would have preferred to buy some from the US or Germany, but as I said, I couldn't find a hardware replacement kit anywhere else.
