I bought this cable to power an old Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Pro that I had. I lost the gameport to USB cable that came with the joystick (it was one of the later models that included both USB and gameport support). The bad news is that it doesn't work out of the box. The good news is that after a quick hack, it now works great on Windows 10 64bit. The item I received is a standard 4-wire D15 USB data cable. decent quality. Easily found in any store. It does NOT include the extra cables or connections needed to make the old MS Sidewinder joystick work with the D-Shell gameport. It can't even be modified to work for it. I have a genuine Belkin adapter and it doesn't even come close to the quality. The mounting screws are too short to damage the controller. A very loose connection comes to the gameport adapter and it doesn't look like it came from any of their molds. Belkin likes to put its name on the USB ends of things (not there). And it doesn't work.

So I can't believe it actually works, but it works like a USB adapter for the Logitech Wingman Extreme. All buttons work perfectly. As mentioned in other comments, there is one weird mod you need to do. Contacts 2 and 7 of the controller (they are marked there) must be shorted / connected. You can use a piece of wire or even a coil tie, just make sure you have good contact on the pins, no contact on the other pins, otherwise the port connection will not sync (thin wire will do). I should have read more about the part I was planning to use it with first. With this cable, my computer recognizes that I'm trying to connect my old joystick to it, but apparently the one I have doesn't work at all on Windows 10. I can't fault the cable for that! But I can say I'm glad the cable at least works.

I bought this joystick expecting it to work but after a bit of trial and error I found that the connectors were wrong and needed to be changed. I didn't want to try this on my new gamer so I sold it to a friend who was willing to do it and he told me it worked by using bread tape and completing a circuit between two pins. Please research this adapter before purchasing as it may not be suitable for you.
