Vegetable Slicer!: Kitchen & Dining

This is my third food slicer that I have purchased from the same company. I usually use a small (serrated) blade. The quality of the blade seems to have been worse when I used the 2nd and 3rd green mango slicer compared to the first one I had a few years ago. It works great for softer veggies like papaya, carrots.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Good but not great

Best tools ever: grater, peeler and slicer

I'm a chef and portable and lightweight. This plane is perfect for carrying a set of knives back and forth. The blade is insanely sharp and you can adjust the thickness which the last knife I bought couldn't. The handguard is amazing, the only downside is that it leaves about a half inch of product that cannot be cut. However, I recommend this product to everyone.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Outdoor

The real thing! This is the right way.

The Benriner mandolin is the king or queen of planing machines. Choose. I love the easy adjustment of hair thickness to almost 1/4". Personally, I love seeing "my own" mandolin on cooking shows featuring big restaurant kitchens and celebrity chefs. The photo above is from an episode of 7 Days Out, featuring Eleven Madison Park, described as "World's No. 1 restaurant".

Pros
  • Wide range
Cons
  • Frequency

There is simply no better mandolin.

This is one of those tools that cut prep time in half. It's lightweight, easy to transport, takes up little space and is, in my opinion, safer than the larger, heavier all-metal lights. Mandolins scare a lot of people and I've seen a lot of accidents. So. Note, for smaller pieces, use a handguard and trim food before placing it on the mandolin, making sure the blade is sharp. Replace the blade if you don't know how to sharpen it.

Pros
  • Easy-to-read control panel
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Works perfectly. Graters, peelers and slicers

I finally have one of these! And I used it. That's great. It's super sharp and does its job perfectly. The finger guard works with potatoes and that's one of the main things I need it for. Instructions in English and other languages. And it is small and easy to store. My grandparents had one and I'm not a spring baby (46) and this has lasted up to 30 years. Then I got myself a kitchen gadget from Costco. Thing was absolutely bearish for storage. It was so big and bulky that cleaning it was a…

Nice knife but not easy to clean

I just received this and this morning I used it to cook potatoes for breakfast. I've used the slicer with one of the serrated attachments (don't know what they're called) and everything worked fine. However, my less-than-excellent recommendation stems from the fact that when cleaning, there were chunks of potato under the cutting blade and there is no easy way to peel that area - the blade is bolted on and not an easy winch. This actually seems to be a minor design flaw - it would be better if…
