Composite/carbon fiber hoses don't like to be pinched/pinched. So all-composite bikes don't really have a convenient place to clamp down a work post. Some people clamp the seatpost, it works, but the problem is you can't clamp the composite seatpost too hard. So this mechanic work stand is perfect for all composite bikes, it is solid and well made. Assembling a bike requires more effort than assembling a clamp stand. But I see it as handy for building custom bikes or restoring old bikes.

I bought this to build a freestyle recumbent and it worked great. Recumbents are notoriously difficult to mount on regular work stands, but with this stand all I had to do was clip the front or rear thru-axle into the clamp and rest the main frame tube on the rubber mount.
