Working - Details

Only 4 stars as the motor needs to be running (14+V DC charging) to get the most heat out. I use a winch on the quad and a separate off-grid battery to power the heaters (that's too much for a generator), doesn't heat up at 12.5 battery rest voltage - the backup battery is a CCA 650A Interstate Deep Cycle so no battery. Heating pads will do the job, keep in mind the comments above

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Very expensive

For the price this is a great buy.

I like the way they work, they will be a bit longer to cover more of the handlebar, that's the only thing I found about them that got them 4 stars instead of 5. Installation was pretty easy, the instructions say you can connect it to a key activated 12v supply, you can connect it directly to the battery but fair warning if you do they will kill your battery if You forget to turn them off. They warm well under the arms, as for long term use I'll just have to wait and see. It is worth noting that

Amazing ride on a 40 degree morning.

As it got colder in NorCal, the morning commute, which was bearable in the 35 degree weather, became increasingly difficult for my fingers. I drive 25 minutes on the freeway at about 60 miles per hour and by the time I get to my destination my fingertips are numb. They practically stayed like that for most of the day, even after they were in the office. After installing them on my 16 Vulcan 1700, I got my fingers toasted the entire trip. Although the ear pads don't completely cover my bike's…

Best money I've spent on my winter bike in Pittsburgh!

Truly the best money I've spent on my bike. I simply routed an extension cord from the battery terminals under the tank into a pocket above the headlight to hold the wire splitters. I have a switch on the right on one side so I can turn them on while driving. I'm discussing the possibility of reconnecting to a 12V supply with a key so I'll remember to turn it off at some point. Otherwise I could add a bright LED or something obvious that they are on. these holds are good up to about 30°-35°…

I have to take care of the string.

First of all they are great so don't mind 4 stars. I just received a second set for my other bike. To be completely honest, they are not perfect. I really wish they were: 1) taller ie slightly wider and 20-30% longer so they actually wrap around the grip of a 1" handlebar. Otherwise you have to fiddle a little with the installation, especially on the throttle side, so that in the normal driving position of the throttle the hand and not the air around the throttle gets warm. This part only…
