Biohome Ultimate Filter Media Aquarium Review

As you can see in my photo 2 pounds of Biohome can fill up to 2 trays of my Fluval 407 when placed vertically. The ceramic bio rings that come with Fluval are significantly smaller. So I just used bio rings to complete 2 biohome trays. I like Biohome Ultimate but you have to use the recommended amount for nitrate reduction and take your time. I have 5 pounds for my tightly filled 55 gallons. Throughout the year I can't say I get zero nitrates (25% pwc weekly) but the nitrates are well controlled and never go above 30-40ppm. I updated my Biorb filter media as recommended by Pond Guru on YouTube which got my aquarium back on track. These balls of bacteria have been in my aquarium for 20 days now and no nitrite has appeared. When I used Seachem Stability bacteria in my other tanks I had nitrites by day 15. I added this to my 250 gallon tank. All reviews about him were amazing. I did my usual tank cleaning with a 20% water change. The only thing I've done differently is my canister.
