This is plastic for coffee, tea and espresso

Boiling water in plastic doesn't suit me. I thought it had stainless steel inside, but that's not the case. Bought another one today. :(

Beautiful and quiet

I love this Black & Decker kettle because it's beautiful and much quieter than our previous stainless steel kettle which was so loud I had to wait for my husband to wake up before using it to water cooked for my morning coffee. I got stuck with Black & Decker because I bought their can opener a few months ago and it's amazing. Thanks 'B&D' for really good products.

White flakes permanently contaminate my filtered water

Very coarse. I drank several cups of tea and noticed flakes floating on the surface of my drink. At first I thought it was the quality of the tea, but when I opened the teapot I found the source. I cleaned it thoroughly after each use and still found those disgusting white marks with every use. Useless, disgusting and a waste of time and money.

Decent kettle good for kitchen and dining room

I like the design of this kettle. I love that it lights up when it's cooking and I love that it has markings on the sides that let you know how full it is. After unpacking and washing it, there was no odd taste. I bought this to replace my old worn one and I'm hoping draining it after use and opening the lid will keep it from becoming flaky beyond repair. I love that I don't have to hold down the button to keep the lid open, that's a nice feature!

Works well, the lid stays open even when filling at a 90 degree angle (unlike many others).

Our first electric kettle was glass and attractive (Hamilton Beach I think) but the lid didn't stay open on its own when filled with water and therefore didn't open the full 90 degrees for you had to hold it alone with one hand and with the other hold the lid open and awkwardly tip it to try to fill it, usually spilling water. We decided to give it a try because the review mentioned that the lid opens 90 degrees and stays open on its own, which it actually does. This is much more user friendly…

We bought this particular kettle because we thought it would complement our kitchen decor; and indeed it is. The mottled white trim on the outside looks great and is unique in my opinion. But as a teapot it's not very good, so I gave it an asterisk. It boils slowly compared to other kettles we've had.
