For everyone else it may be logical, but when it arrived I open the box and put it in the dishwasher on the top shelf to wash it before use . The lower part is made of nice, durable glass, and the upper part, it seemed to me, was made of heavy black plastic and metal. The silver rings were obviously covered in glue and the dishwasher had dissolved it. I'm sure I can tape it back or just buy another one and hand wash it. Otherwise it's a good grinder.

I really like salty food and thought I would buy this product and grind salt which I think might be a bit healthier for me only normal table salt. In the beginning it worked fine. However, after about a month I noticed that it wasn't holding tight and the internal mechanism was falling apart. I could use it right now. I thought the coarseness, fineness, or grind setting had some sort of indicator, like a click, to know when it's in the next setting, but what you really have to do is turn until the hole for the material to fall out about there is you want. You also can't do a back-and-forth sanding motion like you can with other sanders. You can only turn in one direction, otherwise nothing will come out after a few turns. My old pepper mill which is over 20 years old broke so I bought this one as it was the same size and style as my old one. I bought it, washed it, put peppercorns in it and turned it. Good flour and I was happy. When it came time to use it during cooking, I made two turns and it stopped grinding. I tried everything to make it work but finally gave up.
