Neck stays in place, shines well with 3 different shades. The only thing I don't like is that there is a tiny blue LED on the power button (on the cord) so you can see the power button. however bright. I have this light next to my head on my bed. I understand it's there so you can find the power button in the dark, but I'd rather run my hand through the cord and find the power button than leave a blue LED on all night. I stuck a small piece of black tape on it. Otherwise it's a great light.
