Useless lid on dishes

My first one lasted a few years. There were problems, but he got the job done. I broke it. The second arrived yesterday. As with the first, the plastic handle on the lid melted the first time the water boiled. Not sure why I bothered to try again, the lid is rubbish. I'm sure this one will brown quickly like the last one from life on the stove, but that's okay. The handle is still too hot to hold without a potholder.

Pros
  • Fingers crossed
Cons
  • Not sure

Very disappointed. The spout on this kettle broke within the first 45 days of normal use. I only used it twice a week. It was enough for nine applications. Got this on a flash deal for about 50% off, $20. Aside from breaking in less than two months with normal use, it was a good kettle. However very disappointed. I will not buy from this seller again or purchase any other Bonavita product. I contacted support and immediately received a voicemail. Although this is a normal working day. Do not…

For filling, complete with thermometer

Very good flow control for the price. Personally I find it more controllable than the temperature controlled electric version as the latter doesn't pulsate as much when the kettle makes pouring motions. I switched to electric but eventually got back to it. With a separate temperature sensor, this one is probably better. My only concern is that the lid might be easier to remove. The flow control isn't perfect, but I doubt Comrade Stagg's site's improvement in control is proportional to the price

Read my post on security issues!

I bought two pots. One of the spouts fell off and the water boiled away too much and melted at the top. The logo also faded over time. The replacement I bought a few months ago developed a spot of rust on the bottom inseam within the first week. I figured it out, but now it's dripping from below. These pots don't last. I really like the pot style but I won't be buying any other. They also rust when cleaned and dried. I've noticed that when the water heats up, the pan sweats from the cold water,

  • Don't waste too much time

4 years of daily use and everything is good! Good for craft coffee use

I've been using this kettle for everyday use for the last 4 years since I bought it. I've used it on gas and electric ranges (both serpentine and glass) and taken it on numerous hikes. It lives on the stove when not in use and gets covered in grease and splatters every day. But after 4 years it is like new. The stainless steel hasn't rusted and the plastic grips still look brand new, a small comet and a Brillo pad removes all discoloration and they look brand new. Shelf life aside, I use these…

Pros
  • Free for educational use

  • Definitely bad product

Works with an induction hob, but very sensitive to heat without water

I have an induction hob and was looking for a kettle that would work with it. Since Bona Vita is a well-known brand of kettles, I figured this kettle would be just as good. And also! It was. While they don't specifically advertise induction hob compatibility, this kettle definitely works with induction heating and the combo heats water very quickly. I used it to make coffee every morning. I was a bit hesitant before buying this kettle because I read all the reviews here about the spout falling…

Like - no complaints.

I use this on a glass top stove and it works great. I would like to switch to a gas stove at some point but am glad it works fine now. It doesn't take long to boil, even in cold water (compared to my pots, which take forever to boil when the bottom warps). I mainly use it for tea or my Hario v60 but obviously it works great for Chemex etc and is cheaper than the competition. If you don't have access to an oven for heating, I have also used and recommended the powered version. Both are very…

brew coffee? Buy this kettle.

For years I've been boiling water for coffee from an ordinary kettle with a short spout and a whistle that makes all sorts of noises as the water boils. There was not complete control over the pour, which could lead to problems with uneven extraction. In addition, general-purpose boilers are bulky and difficult to cast. Grab this Bonavita teapot (or Hario's equivalent teapot if you prefer the style, but I prefer this one, it's great!). Here's how I use it: 1) Boil water in my regular kettle 2)…

It's a teapot and she does teapot things well!

I've started brewing coffee the old fashioned way and I wanted a kettle that could have a little more control over the pour. This one was better priced than other "specialty coffee makers" so I decided to give this one a try. I live in a highland area with an electric spiral cooker. What I like: This is a cute teapot that would look great in my kitchen. The brushed metal look is nice and stays fairly clean with minimal finger smudges. It has good balance when pouring water and easy to pour. The
