97 distributor Chevy Z71

I took my time and put a new one in. My engine doesn't run properly at top dead center so I filed the lock washer down to adjust it a bit. The truck drives better than new. Very good product for this money.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Functionality

It was packaged well and tightly, Michigan

It was packaged very well, the part looked very nice, the lid and rotor are nice and thick, not cheap. BEFORE I couldn't set the clamp to DIST. won't fit. while everything is GOOD. (I used my old one). Started straight away. VERY HAPPY WITH IT and the price is good.

Pros
  • Good product for its price
Cons
  • Minor issues

Better than the factory VP block.

This is an excellent distributor. This is NOT a space as some have claimed. This is a die cast aluminum manifold machined to resemble billet aluminum. However, don't let that confuse you. This is a great upgrade and all bolts will fit your Volvo Penta engine with a factory style crab head distributor. I highly recommend this part - save your money at the $800 new price and enjoy the savings. Happy boating.

  • Free for educational purposes

High quality, low cost.

Worked well to fix random misfires and crank/cam correlation issues. The factory distributor has a plastic body and nearly 1/4 inch end play. When replacing you will need to set the cam offset timing using a good quality scan tool or hptuners. Otherwise you have an engine check gauge for crank cam correlation. Based on reviews, I spent $13 more on this distributor than I would for a cheaper unit. This part appears to be very well made and packaged to avoid damage in transit. As others have…

Easy to install on ignition parts

I have read most of the reviews on this product and can only say that this installation is not difficult. find OT. Using the old manifold, mark the alignment points on the bulkhead and back of the air intake. Make identical marks on the new distributor. There are two windows on the top of the new distributor. Center the small window on the arrow on the rim of the dispenser. If you insert the distributor with your marks and make sure your little window is set as above, it should go straight in…

I really hated it.: parts

I was really scared to change this distributor. It started out so easy. But someone broke one of the tabs on the manifold that holds the cap. This meant the cover was secured with two large zip ties. There was no choice. However, the work was smooth as silk. Of course after I pulled out the old distributor. Fortunately, after a slight adjustment, the engine is revived by turning the key. I've had other aftermarket dealers over the years. But I was very surprised when the device arrived to find…

You get what you pay for

That's why I buy this complete distributor to make it easier to fix a bad ignition. setting is normal. work is normal. Runs fine, problem solved. NOT REALLY. Not even a week goes by and the car won't start. Cranks but no sign of starting or firing. Check ECU for codes, check fuel pressure. Check any items that may be causing the boot to fail. Last but not least I check the ignition on the coil, yes it works, I check the ignition on the spark plug. no The cover is removed and the brand new rotor

Pros
  • Rugged construction
Cons
  • No automatic

Bought for Escalade 2000 5.7. These were random dropouts during and after rain or when the air was humid. Replaced cover, rotor, candles, cables, camshaft sensor, crankshaft sensor, etc. Nothing has changed. I started reading reports here of gaskets wearing out in a stock plastic distributor and allowing condensate to rise out of the oil pan, dumping the distributor and pooling under the cover causing sparks. I bought this dispenser because I didn't want to pay 2-300 for another plastic pos…

What can I say? The OEM dealer for my 1997 Chevy Silverado V8 5.7L Vortec only had over 200,000 miles before it started to perform horribly. The OEM distributor had a plastic base and shaft (weird) but has worked much longer than other stories online that have mentioned problems with them, so can't really complain. THIS distributor is an upgrade! The base and shaft are aluminum (which everyone on the internet recommends if you need to decide on a replacement) and came as an all-in-one kit with…
