This is a Briggs & Stratton gas cap, what's to hate or love?

Had to buy a new one when the original fell off. This new one is just as loose as the original and the small attachment strap is too loose in the plastic loop. Priced at $8-$12 each, these disappearing gas caps will make for a good B&S sale!

  • Elegant design

Fits my TroyBilt mower snugly

When I lost my lawnmower's gas cap (the old one fell off and I ran the mower over it) I was surprised to find that Lowe no longer sold the TroyBilt brand and it appeared that Craftsman was a replacement. However, the spare parts in the store did not fit (I tried three different ones). This one was finally correct.

Pros
  • Great product
Cons
  • Not the best

An OEM part with an OEM problem is at least easy to fix.

This is an OEM replacement and has the same problem of it falling right off the tank. The seller packed and shipped well. The attached photo shows a simple solution to a falling cover. Either purchase another fuel-approved o-ring or a second cap and slide the second o-ring over the OEM-installed o-ring. This creates enough pressure between the lid and tank to prevent twisting/dropping.

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other picks

It fits just like the original.

I have a Craftman M230 small engine lawnmower. I think I didn't unscrew the lid and when I was working in my garden I ruined the lid when it got lost. I guess everyone here had a similar scenario as to why we're looking for a new cap here, aside from wear and tear. πŸ˜… The gas cap fits perfectly. I had no trouble falling. The original had no click when tightened, so if that's what you're looking for, walk away.

Pros
  • Permanent test results
Cons
  • OK

This is an exact replacement for the one I lost.

However as it is an exact replacement you are experiencing the SAME issue. The lid is barely connected to the plastic that attaches it to the mower. I've gone as far as securing the plastic holder to the mower with a zip tie, but the cap still comes out of the ring (keeping the ring attached to the mower) and disappears somewhere in my mowing path. I've already lost 2 caps so I painted the last one with fluorescent paint in case it comes off too.

  • Certified
Cons
  • Replacement Availability

This is too loose! Gas leaks!

This is an OEM recommended replacement gas cap for my B&S Toro mower. The problem is that since the mower was bought 5 years ago, the characteristics of the fuel cap have changed somewhat. The o-ring on it is now too small causing the gas cap to be loose and open fully during operation and gas will leak out when the mower is on a hill. The thought that I now have to buy an extra o-ring or two of gas caps and double up on the o-rings as the reviews suggested is a joke. At least Revain's coming…

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • old
