Ideal for 135 gallon freshwater aquarium

My husband wanted to buy these biospheres for our new 135 gallon waterbox aquarium. Since this is a brand new object, we had to work on it for a while before we could add our existing fish or new fish to the environment. They're a decent size and don't create dust in or out of the water. After a few weeks, these spheres attached beneficial bacteria and helped our aquarium grow. I would buy again.

Pros
  • Maximum surface area, high absorbency filter media
Cons
  • Weight

Good quality. No dust!

They are so cute. They are dust free and work great. Not all were brittle. I am in the process of enlarging my tank from 7 to 20 gallons. I need to install my new germination tank from my original tank so that's what I got. I placed a few on the back of my filter/pump. This fills them with beneficial microbes which I then transfer to my new aquarium in addition to decorations and plants. Your use will help speed up my new aquarium.

Pros
  • Durable open cell
Cons
  • Almost never

Great replacement for ceramic bio rings

About twice the size of a standard ceramic ring, they are lighter and have more pores. Even after delivery there was no dust in the reservoir and no dust was released when I installed it as a ceramic stage in the sump of my Eclipse system. I have no doubt that they will be filled with beneficial bacteria over the next few weeks, but they won't collapse like ceramic rings. were totally impressed with how well they hold up.

Pros
  • Ultra light ceramic bio carrier that is easy to clean and maintain.
Cons
  • Vulgarity

These bioballs look and feel like dense living sand

Biological fill is one of the three fills required for a good filtration system. the other two are mechanical (sponges) and chemical (activated carbon). I usually use living sand as a substrate. So when I circulate the water, good bacteria start to form in the living sand or whatever substrate you are using. I have a fresh water tank that uses ceramic bio rings and it works great. feels and looks like compact living sand which, as mentioned above, makes an excellent substrate. So, I think this…

Pros
  • Completely solves the spalling problem like similar ceramic biofill
Cons
  • Some difficulties
