Brookstone BK798314 Grill Alert Remote Meat Thermometer with Voice Prompts Review

We have had this thermometer for years and it has always worked well. Unfortunately the old one broke so we bought a new one. This is by far the best unit out there and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to make sure whatever they have on their grill is working.

I bought this to use with my Traeger. I drilled a small hole in the side of the grill above the pellet hopper and threaded a wire through it. Works perfectly. We cook a lot of grilled chicken and it's very accurate when it's done and I don't have to keep opening the lid and losing heat. The perfect addition to any summer barbecue!

Husband loves it! We grill several days a week all year round. This allows him to do other things without running back and forth. Have tried other brands. This is by far the best. But it's also our 2nd one. I think this will last for years for summer weekend users. But we are active users and it wears off. You really can't complain about that. This is truly a wonderful product.

Our old speaking thermometer still works, but no longer speaks to us. This replacement is very similar and we like it. Grilling is indispensable without it. This is a really big help, especially when preparing steaks and poultry (turkey/chicken). The old man can go for a walk with us, but he stays in the house. They also seem to be very durable.

Great idea but the sensor stopped working after 4 or 5 uses and the warranty has expired so it will not be replaced. Had to spend $25 for a new probe. I used it less than 10 times for a few years after that and then it came out again and showed 150F no matter what I did to it. I'm willing to classify this as "garbage". I'll look around for another brand.

You would think if they could get it to "talk" there would be things like "connected" (which is important and difficult to read) or even better "CONNECTION FAILED"! Options such as the type of food ("Beef") and "rare", "medium" and "good" warnings, which are helpful for people with visual impairments. although most of the words are written on the screen in large print.
