Great support, update your OS *updated*

*update* Following my previous review (below), not only was I able to install and use the adapter on my Rpi, I bought it for a Windows computer that I needed for occasional internet connections. While the one on the Windows machine is brand new, the installation went smoothly and everything works fine. In my opinion a good adapter. *Original review* I haven't had a chance to enforce this adapter yet. However, not being a regular Linux user, the support from this Brostech vendor was what I would

  • This is great

Good WiFi adapter for Debian/Ubuntu Linux

Been using Linux Mint 20.1 for about 5 weeks now. The only small issue is that the drivers that came with the adapter didn't match the ones I received, but the company emailed the correct driver straight away. I didn't have to contact them, it just happened as part of the purchase. Really good, proactive customer service. I've been using a ThinkPenguin Wi-Fi adapter I bought last year, and while I want to support Linux-focused businesses, this BrosTrend adapter is better for a number of…

  • Easy installation

  • I will add later

I have a Lenovo M91p and am using Debian, Linux and Ubuntu and Windows 8.1. At first I had some concerns because I couldn't find any wifi. I contacted support via email and got a quick response telling me to download the driver or use the disc in the package. I didn't have the disc in my hands and found it in the fold of the box. It comes on a 3 inch drive and is pretty small. It turns out that on Win8.1 you need to install the driver.Installing the driver was quick and easy, after installing…

Works great once you're through the Linux setup.

I got this because there weren't many great options for a 5.8GHz Wi-Fi dongle. I need this for my Raspberry Pi. I was concerned the RPi didn't have drivers to make it work. BrosTrend tech support was very quick to answer my questions and provided documentation for installing on a Linux system. Satisfied with their replies, I pulled the trigger and purchased the item. I have to say that once you get past the hurdles of installing Linux drivers, it works great. If you are new to Linux, you may…

It just works! in Computers & Accessories

As a Linux user, I'm used to having to put in a little more effort to get components working with my computer. My current device only works as a 2.4GHz antenna, so I wanted to take advantage of the higher speeds in the 5.0 spectrum. I bought a wireless adapter from another vendor on Revain that claimed to work with Linux but after hours of struggling the issue still didn't work. I returned it and then bought this item because Linux support was much more prominent in the description. (Though I…

Pros
  • High test scores for support and durability

  • So far so good

Good value, good setup

I installed this on a Dell Optiplex 755 desktop with no Wi-Fi. It dual boots Windows 10 and Ubuntu Linux 18.04. On Windows, the supplied CD contained all the files required for installation. As suggested in the quickstart, I ran Setup.exe, it started fine and that was it. On Ubuntu, you need to download the package from the vendor's repository. This is less secure than delivery on CD. It also means that you cannot install unless you already have internet access on the computer prior to launch…

Very satisfied

Love this key! It revived my laptop - it's as bouncy as new. By God's grace I got the news a few days ago that most routers have switched to 802.11AC. After some experimentation with ethernet cables and examining the wireless card on my computer, I found that mine only supports N. This solved the mystery of why my reception was often intermittent and slow at many points where I stopped. The migration to AC coincided with my travel time. I blamed ISPs, distances, or walls in places I lived…

Pros
  • Quality construction

  • Requires socket
