Browning NMO CB Antenna

This is a CB and 10 meter NMO antenna. The reception is excellent, as is the transmission. The SWR is really good from 1.1 to 1.4 depending on where you are on the bands. The antenna is durable and can withstand higher wind speeds. Make sure you have a good base for your antenna. Excellent work!

Pros
  • Heavy Duty Construction
Cons
  • Available in Black Only

Cutting chart 3/8 " shorter for my magnet rig

Seems well made. The cutting chart was a bit short for my center roof setup on a long cab Toyota Tacoma truck. It goes well with my antenna analyzer with an SWR of 1.6 at the bottom of the range, gradually decreasing to 1.1 at 27,200MHz and then gradually increasing to 1.4 at the top of the range.

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Not as good as it says

Will not work with trunk tray or hatchback mount.

On my second in the last three months and I still can't get it to work. SWR 3+ no matter what. Following the manufacturer's cutting instructions, things got even worse on both antennas. With the Nagoya mount which works great with my VHF/UHF NMO antennas. Reinstalled bracket, still to no avail. I replaced the second Browning with a Larsen NMO CB antenna, SWR 1.7 on channel 20 with no trim, straight out of the box. Double price, 1000% better performance. I would stay away from the BR-140 unless…

Great little antenna for the money

When I first hooked up this antenna I was discouraged. The SWR was over 3.5 on all channels. I plan to use this primarily on 11m CB but was hoping it would expand to 10m as well. It's not wide enough for that. I looked at the chart and it suggested the cut I'm assuming since it's also rated for up to 12 meters of coverage. Let me just say this whip is long. I think I cut 2.5 inches, about 1/2 inch at a time. The SWR is now 1 or less on all channels, almost perfect. I like that everything is…

Nice Antenna for AV Accessories

This is a pretty well built antenna. It seems a bit thin so has a pretty narrow bandwidth. And it seems he can be a little temperamental in placement. Best placed in the middle of a large area, e.g. B. in the middle of the top of the cab. Be sure to check the SWR with an SWR meter or antenna analyzer in an open area. I built this antenna into a metal structure, cut it and tuned it with an antenna analyzer. Then he drove the car outside and the SWR switched off. Luckily it was long so I could…

Antenna with excellent characteristics and looks good.

Antenna with excellent performance and good looks. The reason for giving this antenna 4 stars instead of 5 is due to an issue with using this antenna on a 5" NMO magnetic mount and the antenna pin tends to tilt to one side when the set screws are trimmed and tightened . With the MFJ magnetic mount, the lowest SWR I can get is 2.5-3:1 at the factory resonant frequency of around 26.5MHz. The problem seems to stem from the lack of a good ground with a magnetic mount. When the antenna was mounted…

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Speed

Along with the purchase of this antenna I bought a Browning/Tram NMO fender mount. I installed a fender mount on my 1989 Chevy pickup and just left the entire length of the coax cable intact. I hid a large cable loop under the dash because I didn't want to cut the PL259 connector and shorten the coax cable. Sometimes this causes problems, either due to the inability to solder the ground or problems with the SWR. After installing the mount, I went through the instructions on the bag that…
