I had to pour it directly on the affected area and shampoo 4 times but it removed the smell. I was hoping that my carpet would not require so many soaks.

A raccoon walked onto my porch and stole one of those fly traps, the liquid baited one. Yes, an unpleasant fishy smell spread over the tree. Getting rid of the smell is not easy. It worked really well, it smells like black liquorice which is way nicer than dead fish. :) I just keep applying it and it seems to get better.

I let it soak for an hour and the disgustingly thick amber started to flake along the joints.
