The problem with these lamps with this type of dimmer is that some lamps turn on immediately when in the dim position, some take a while to warm up to full brightness, and some never turn on. This lamp produces a pleasant and bright light. This is really a replacement for a lower wattage 100w incandescent bulb. It responds well to my regular dimmer. Of course, most dimmable CFLs don't fade below 20% and this one is no exception. The only disappointment is that it's not "instant on". Delay about half a second after turning on the switch. I only chose two stars because these lightbulbs are buzzing. I've read reviews of all of Amazon's dimmable compact fluorescent bulbs and there have been no reports of hum.
