Great little range finder and a real benefit

Great little range finder and a real benefit. But before you buy, make sure you understand what it's for. I see some reviewers complaining that it doesn't work at 350 yards from an antelope or a moose at 850 yards. This is a range finder with a maximum range of 200 meters for deer and big game. You can of course look at other objects (trees, large rocks, buildings, signs, etc.) to get a good idea of how far away your target is, but you still won't see more than 600 meters. This is a great item! Bought as a Christmas present for my 16 year old son. He and my husband love it. It seems very accurate and works very well. Interestingly, the battery listed here in the product description is not the battery required. I bought a CR 2 battery as stated in the product description. To my surprise, it needed a 9 volt battery. Luckily we had it on hand. Although the clock next to my bed was temporarily out of order, we were able to tinker with a Christmas present on Christmas

Good but short range

I bought this device looking for something to measure range in the state forest/mountains near my hometown. Being mountains and dense forest I wasn't expecting to need more than 300 yards, so the advertised 600 yard range and low price were ideal. Unfortunately, this was not the case in practice.
