They work!: Tires and tubes

I put a set of tires on my road bike and they work. I heard a noise that turned out to be a nail hitting a caterpillar on a chainstay; instead, the liners appear to have deflected the nail away from the tube and through the tire. I inspected the tires and noticed many other scars from debris that hadn't entered the tube.

Pros
  • Best in their niche
Cons
  • Very expensive

Made for mountain bikes, also suitable for cyclocross

I bought race size liners and it was a big mistake. The edges of the liner cut into the tire chamber and regularly caused punctures. However, the MTB liners were much wider and covered the entire face of my cyclocross tires, eliminating any lug punctures and preventing the liner edges from piercing the tube.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Some problems

Stopper NM Goatheads Best in Tubes

I live in New Mexico and we have Goatheads that will gouge anything, without these inserts I would have flat tires every ride. I use a tube of slime, but sometimes the slime just doesn't work. I still use slime tubes but there is hardly any need, they are great. When installing, just make sure they stay centered on your tire as you mount the tire and don't let them slide to the sides.

  • Certified
Cons
  • Questionable Purchase for Seniors

not as bold as the Tuffy brand

We have goat head weed trimmers in the country we live in and I ordered them to save my kid's bike tires. I also ordered a Tuffy brand for a different size bike tire. This brand has a much thinner, lighter green part of the stripe. I don't feel this offers enough protection for the sharp spikes we have so I'm bringing it back for a thicker branded liner. They will likely fit lighter tires.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Safety

A Few Ounces of Prevention

This is the second bike I've used these liners on. The first set survived years of rocky trails and saved me the trouble of patching or replacing tubes in the middle of a ride. Unfortunately, this bike was stolen and with it the liners. Now that I've replaced the bike and liners, I ride without fear of goat's head shreds, prickly pear piercings, or mesquite mayhem (the southwestern desert is a rough place). In the last sixty kilometers I saw three punctures without damage to the inner tube…

So far so good: Bike

I read that some had problems with the installation. I consider myself a noob in bike maintenance. However, with a little care, installation is easy. Just blew off my hose and pulled it out to the valve stem. Leave it in place. added a green stripe with overlap. I put the hose back in and partially filled it up. Massage the outer part of the hose to ensure the correct position of the liner. I continued to inflate with a hand pump, checking the position as it inflated. Everything seemed fine…

Very easy to put on and looks very good.

I had never installed such equipment before, so ease of installation was my biggest concern. If you know how to install new pipes then you know how to install this one. It was very easy. The material looks and feels very durable so I think it will protect my tubes very well. If I could avoid having my tube repaired or replaced three times less in a year, it would be worth it. I'm going to talk about how it actually works. Quick update: I ride my bike in an area that has a lot of junk and my…
