CA10159 Extra Guard Rectangular Filter Review

Perfect for a good price. Fram is my go-to choice for a cheap air cleaner if I don't want to deal with overpriced dealer units. My only complaint is that I think Toyota's official OEM filter is a little better. Comparing the FRAM to the Toyota OEM, I can say that the Toyota OEM uses a slightly thicker filter element and can catch more dirt.

When checking all the maintenance items on a new car in a family, the air filter is always at the top of the list. Engines use HUGE amounts of air, and only getting clean air into the combustion chambers helps prevent wear and tear on all of these fast-moving parts. This is one of those "pay me now or pay me later" things that regularly make financial sense.

Excellent air filter replacement for 2004-2009 Prius engines. I personally don't like Fram oil filters but their air filters seem great and well priced. Looks great and fits perfectly. As opposed to the cabin air filter where I think the Fram is actually better than the Toyota filter, I only gave this engine air filter 4 stars because I suspect the Toyota air filter may be more specific to the car than the Fram.

My Prius uses this engine air filter. Changing a filter on a Prius is very easy, and there are several good reasons to pay someone big bucks to do such a simple two-minute task. I put on a pair of nitrile gloves, undo a few latches, take out the old filter. , insert the new filter and snap it back into place. Very easy. It is almost impossible to insert the filter incorrectly. There are videos on YouTube and like in my case your dealer can show you how to do it.

It costs about half as much as a Toyota filter, but the rubber around the filter doesn't fit like a glove. I have spares in my car and during an oil change if they tell me I need a new one I just pull one out and give it to them and they are usually very nice and will deliver a new one for free. I have a 2008 Toyota Prius Touring and this filter works as good as the original or any replacement part from Pepboys, Autozone etc. Great price on Amazon and you must be crazy buying something from the dealer, especially if they want to charge $50+.
