It can read my GPT disk (8TB)

I have 6 docks in total and bought this one about a year ago. I recently had to restore my NAS so I backed up all my data to random drives and ended up buying an 8TB drive to help load it. I formatted the 8TB drive as GPT with exFat and to my surprise it was the ONLY dock that could read it properly! All other docks (Sabrent & Newertech) could not read the hard disk properly (see screenshot). I was in a dilemma so THANK YOU Cable Matters! I will buy from them more often!

A must have tool for any geek like me

I fix and build computers fairly regularly. This tool has made my life much easier. First, it allows me to test 2.5" and 3.5" hard drives including SSDs. This versatility makes it very convenient. The most important thing for me is that it makes it easier for me to clone hard drives, especially since most of my customers are moving to SSDs. Pros: - Small size - Plug and play, so no drivers required. annoying but not bad - PSU: It's a little bulky, almost the same as an external hard drive so it

Good doc. Works with 4TB WD Red and Raspberry Pi.

Seems to be a good dock. Not as heavy as the Thermaltake Blacx docking station, but sturdy enough for my purposes. Have a 4TB WD Red drive in it connected to a Raspberry Pi 4 acting as a file server and it works fine. The main thing is fast and reliable. For drives larger than 2TB, the formatting performed by some other docking stations is not always compatible with systems connected to the drive via SATA or eSATA interfaces. That's not a problem here, at least not with WD Red. I was able toโ€ฆ

Plug and Play with USB 3.1 data transfer speed!

I had a VERY old external USB hard drive with 1.1 baud rate. I used it because it worked. A month or two ago he died (FINALLY) and I had a chance to upgrade. I needed a USB 3 speed external docking station that could accommodate multiple drive sizes. It doesn't disappoint. Pros: * The transfer speed on my laptop is up to 289 MB/s. Impressive!* I haven't found a disc that won't be recognized yet. Compatibility looks the same as if you installed the drive directly into a regular PC. The cover isโ€ฆ

EDIT: My mistake! The product still works perfectly.

Unfortunately I'm in a situation right now where I have to rely on this product and it seems to have failed. Drives are no longer recognized and the product has stopped working, so I guess I'll have to use a different device. I didn't listen to the reviews warning of this issue when I bought it, but I had to. I am very sorry for my first review. You could say I thought I was a bit short on time when I originally posted and was feeling stressed. "USB Selective Suspend" was *again* re-enabled inโ€ฆ

Too bad I didn't update this sooner!

I switched to this case from a USB 2.0 dongle adapter after it had a power outage. I wish I had updated sooner! The transfer rate from the old spinning disk was 122 Mbit/s, and all disks I tested were recognized without any problems. I was concerned reading some of the other reviews of larger drives, so the first step was to update the firmware. If you google "Cable Matters Firmware Update 202019" the first link is a KB article which has a link to download the flash utility (included with theโ€ฆ
