Digital signal interference when used with Apple Cinema Display

I have an old (but still nice) 30 inch Apple Cinema Display that uses a DVI dual link cable, to get the max resolution 2560 x 1600. I want to remove the monitor from the computer so I have one of these cables. Unfortunately, when connected to an Apple Dual Link DVI to Mini DisplayPort adapter, the signal degrades and garbage appears on the screen.

  • Great for a small home

Excellent thick cables, beware of DOA or damaged cables

Each cable is made of high quality material. I bought 2 first and they were great for a few hours but for the first time in my life my monitor was completely filled with static CRT after just a few hours of use. It was not possible to determine what was wrong with the cable, so it is most likely a pinched wire or a bad connection. Bought a third cable and returned the defective cable. Update: The 3rd cable seems fine and works great.

  • Cool
Cons
  • Some difficulties

Used in place of the HDMI cable

I am using a monitor with no sound and with the HDMI cable it always came up on mute. I was having trouble with my Bluetooth speaker so I used it to troubleshoot a possible issue. With bluetooth it didn't affect anything. BUT I like that I screw it to my memory card quickly like old VGA cables. When I moved the computer, which I often do, the HDMI cable slipped out because it wasn't secured. The performance with this cable is excellent. Lucky tourist!

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Expensive insurance

This cable is a rare bird

Recently my 30" Apple Cinema Display broke after about ten years and I had to replace it with a 30" HP display that didn't have the required DVI-D Dual was equipped connecting cable. As an IT pro, I have boxes and boxes of cables, many of which are DVI-D, but none of them support dual-link, and the Apple Cinema Display has a built-in cable, so it can't be ported over to a new monitor. This cable helped although I didn't want to buy it thinking I could save up another DVI-D cable, but it wasn'tโ€ฆ

Best cable for 144hz monitors in my opinion

Best cable for 144hz monitors in my opinion. I've owned this cable for the past year, the quality is second to none. It's better than Display Port and HDMI cables. I'm playing on an ASUS monitor with a resolution of 1920 x 1800, 144Hz and a response time of 1ms, and it's perfect for that. Of course your graphics card must have a DVI-D slot to use it as I wouldn't recommend using a DVI-D DP or HDMI adapter, it loses signal strength and won't work, also you can't use these adapters set theโ€ฆ

Cons

Ghosting is annoying

We recently removed a KVM switch using cheap DVI-A cable sets and almost no ghosting to a direct graphics card configuration with two of these cables for two monitors. These cables feel well made and are as durable as any, but despite hours of switching combinations of contrast, brightness, gamma and ClearType settings for two monitors side by side (Viewsonic VA2246-LED with NVidia GEForce GTX 560 Ti on a Windows 7 64-bit computers) these cables (both) wander around visibly. We moved the cables

Pros
  • Fits many people
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

A bit big, but otherwise it works!

Not much to say about the cable other than 1) it works great with two DVI connectors attached and 2) the build quality appears solid. You really can't ask for more cables. The picture quality on my monitor is great, but I didn't really notice any difference from before. I have to assume and hope that the materials used will help maintain this quality over time (or at least until I can finally switch to HDMI). As the title suggests, the cable itself is quite large. It's not uncommon for DVIโ€ฆ

Great quality at a great price

This is definitely a great price as you will most likely pay A LOT more for something like this in a brick and mortar store. It does the job and is well made. My only concern is the picture quality, I used to have a VGA cable with a DVI adapter on my graphics card which offered an "analog" connection. After using this cable, the monitor and graphics card connection changed to digital (which is great, since I didn't take this into account). I have progressive lenses and I have a hard timeโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • Fits

I recently upgraded to a GTX 1080 Ti FE. The adapter that came with the card is a passive adapter not an active adapter that goes from DisplayPort to DVI It doesn't work with my QNIX QX2710 1440p display Luckily I had a Monoprice adapter that works The only problem is the DVI-D cable that I used, some strange flickering thin lines appear on the left side of the monitor and ran across the screen. The lines varied in size, up to about 2.5 cm wide, mostly green and sometimes purple (red?). Theseโ€ฆ
