Description of Cal-Van Tools 165 Master Brake Flaring Kit - Double and Single Flares, Professional Inline Flaring Tools. High-Quality Tool Set

Specifications: this flaring set includes 3/16 in. 1/4 in. 5/16 in. and 3/8 in. double and single flares which are designed to reduce the chance of the tube slipping from the clamp. Double and bubble flares measure 4.75mm, 6mm, 8mm. Equipment Design: with compact design, the in-line flaring tool enables the user to flare copper or soft steel tubing in tight spaces. The double clamp and hex body keeps tube from slipping, keeping flares centered and making flaring easier. Flaring Tool Adapters: in-line flaring set is designed to simplify flaring chores. The design locks the adapter's cone and tube in a perfect line which makes accurate factory flares with less risk of breakage. Tubing Tool Kit: with the clamp and screws laying pressure directly over the tube, there is a great chance of the tube slipping from the clamp. Flaring tools reduce this chance and make it work effectively. Durable Material: flaring kit swivel-type swaging adapters and flaring cone are made of the sturdiest steel materials — perfect for tough job sites. NOTE: The tool is not to be used with stainless steel which can damage the tool.

It works: Tools and equipment

Testimonials: Mechanic 23 years in the US Army now that it doesn't work anymore I say this tool takes off missiles but I could only use it for steel wire. I've tried it on copper cord and it was a big mistake, the cord is too soft for this tool to last long enough to flare and just push through. So if you have copper and want to tear your hair out all day and stick that thing through your neighbor's window, this is for you. Helpful Tip: Bevel the end with a file/dremel, soften the metal with a…

Not suitable for flaring Bubble/Iso

I purchased this kit solely to flare 3/16" cupro nickel brake lines. I have been using traditional double flare tools for 25 years and have never had a problem when beading. I've made several attempts at belling using different methods of preparation. Some beveled more than others, laying the ends square to the block each time and experimenting with beveling the inside diameter of the tube. They all came out the same. The instructions followed T. None of them even looked like a bubble flash…

Perfect results from the factory!

I don't usually write reviews because most of the products are basic and there are other brands that do the same, apart from the price, no need to worry. However, the Cal-Van 165 flaring tool is unique to the application when compared to typical rod flaring tools. I needed to replace some wiring on a bus and to get the job done I rented a pole kit from my local auto parts store. The tool was new and I used the correct die, but it didn't allow for stable torches on the 1/4" nickel alloy. Kopp…

Great for double expanders

I used this to double expand a stainless steel brake line on a car. It's far superior to the flaring tools you rent from auto parts stores. Works fine, but here are a few tips that will help: 1. Make sure your final preparation is perfect. The included cutter ensures a great square cut. Forget the included stainless steel deburring tool. It will not work. I used a dremel with a grinding wheel to remove the burrs on the inside and add a bevel on the outside. The bevel on the outside is crucial…

Perfect expanders if you do it right

I'm fairly new to making brake lines and after a lot of practice and trial and error I've been able to consistently make great expanders. Another reviewer mentioned a few tips including adding extra line length and ensuring perfect edge prep. You will benefit from using these guidelines as I have seen a significant improvement since they were introduced. A few additional things helped me. 1.) Lubricate everything but the threads that hold the tube in place so it moves smoothly and long. This…
