Much more reliable step with these

Finally installed. I put 2 of these on my lowest tier. Made it much stronger. Pretty easy to install and the clips hold it in the up position very securely.

Pros
  • Good product for its price
Cons
  • High price

A great RV step support that just needs regular cleaning and lubrication.

So this is the second stage jack I bought because the first stage adjusting screw had turned into a solid rusty mass that I couldn't unscrew. Lesson Learned - Clean and lubricate the adjustment screw at least once a year. The good news is that it is well built and works well overall which is why I bought another one.

It turned out great, but it took some effort to get.

Worked great but took some effort to fit under our tiers. Our lowest of the three steps is hardly strenuous when you step on it and I've seen several campers with the ladder broken. Unfortunately, my footpegs have a lot of factory dents. These grooves are important to the strength of the steps, so I had to install these Camco supports under and over these bumps. It was difficult to install, but I was finally able to line them up.

Brings spring from the steps of your camper van!

VERY easy to install! I decided using two of them was the way to go to support the bottom tier and they work great. You can see in my video that almost all of the springs have been removed from my footpegs and the camper doesn't move at all. The adjustment threads have a fairly fine pitch, so it takes a lot of turning to get them to the right height. The fasteners don't feel rusty to the touch, and for something that's out 24/7 I'm a little worried they might rust, but that's an easy fix with a

Excellent stabilization of your steps

After our first drive in our new motorhome, I noticed how much the original steps bend when getting in or out of the trailer. Even with the trailer stabilizers down, the camper still rocked. I really like how heavy this is built. It feels really solid and strong. I also like how it stows away on the steps so I don't have to put it somewhere every time we move. I had to drill a hole to attach it to the steps because it didn't line up perfectly with the holes that were already in my steps. The…

One is enough, two are better for me

They make the steps more stable and I think they relieve the retraction mechanism. I chose two and placed them outside folding inwards. Makes it reliable on rough terrain. I can't give this product 5 stars because the quality of the long screw just isn't there. Both of mine were slightly bent, causing them to get stuck in the tube on the last two inches of inward travel. The binding was enough to fully retract the wrench. Instead of sending them back I made a template and straightened them in…

Good upgrade. Exterior

Works as advertised. Saves me traveling with another step brace that wasn't permanently attached. Two things to pay attention to when installing: 1) Make sure to install in a place where the step can return to its original position. My step has a metal bar over the bracket which required some positioning checks before drilling the holes. This strip of metal gets in the way a bit, forcing me to install it further under the step than I originally thought I would install. Check and check again to…

Camco 43671 Self-Stor has a major design flaw

I purchased 2 Camco 43671 Self-Stor Step Modules for my 5 wheel trailer. They were too long so I shortened them thinking they would provide good stability when folding my camper. It was my fault - I had to send them back to Revane for a refund. The Self-Stor units have some good design ideas: 1) Length can be adjusted with the threaded adjustable leg 2) The locking clip keeps the leg under the zip step 3) The swivel/flip function places the adjustable leg under the first Step. The problem I…
