Great starter kit for a fun hobby

This is an excellent starter kit for the Raspberry Pi 3. I've never played with it, but as a longtime Linux/UNIX guru I was dying to find an excuse to do it. Eventually I broke down and found one to craft. This kit has literally everything you need to get started except for a keyboard and monitor. Even things you might not even need. My first experience with this thing was completely mind boggling. I simply assembled the components, loaded the SD card with the latest version of Raspbian…

Great for frustrated Nintendo customers who are computer savvy.

That's basically all you need to build a small portable emulator. Anyone who spent their time with Nintendo to get their hands on the nes Classic Edition should consider this bundle. Keep in mind that you must be computer literate if you want to get the most out of this kit. At least there is someone who can help you. Setting up the Pi to your liking is going to take most of the day if you're on the emulation path and want to add a lot of detail to the frontend (menu). Otherwise you can just…

Good kit but watch out for possible overheating issues

This is a great kit to get started with the Raspberry Pi but remember that even if you don't overclock the Pi there is a risk that it gets too hot for a number of reasons. First, while the case is sturdy and easy to assemble, it doesn't have a fan, and since it's made of plastic rather than metal, it doesn't disperse heat as well (and therefore function as a heatsink) as it would otherwise. Energy. However, I liked the case and think it would be ok for low impact Pi use. The other reason is…

Pros
  • This is great
Cons
  • There are new competitors

Really good starter kit. However, if you want maximum performance from your Raspberry Pi 3, please purchase the components separately. The included Kingston memory card is decent but not outstanding. For maximum microSD performance, grab a Samsung EVO+, Samsung Pro+, or Sandisk Extreme card. The 32GB capacity is the perfect combination of performance and price. If you want to run Raspbian, Ubuntu Mate, Retropie or another desktop distro, you need at least 3.5 GB; make an 8GB card convenient but

little box that could!

this thing is just precious! cheap, easy to start and reliable. I was looking for something lightweight to evoke 80's and 90's nostalgia and this little box is perfect for that. hooked it up to Retropie and it was up and running within minutes. PROS - super fast small form factor no case fan (but you can add one if you want, don't really need an easily identifiable peripheral (Logitech keyboard and USB controller) Cons: no power button. (biggest bone head movement ever) but you can buy one on…
