Great DSLR for the money

Having spent almost 40 years in photography I'm over went to the edge and only took pictures to avoid carrying heavy cameras. D30 pleasantly surprised. While not very light, it fits easily in a small bag and doesn't weigh too much on the shoulder. The images are amazing and far surpass the results I've had with film, even with fine grain Kodachrome. Camera controls are easy to learn and available when needed. What shocked me the most were the highest ISO results. When using weaker lenses…

Great camera on digital cameras

I'm a semi-professional photographer who usually shoots with Canon Series 1 digital cameras. As much as I love the Series 1, there are times when I want to go with a smaller body .I had a 10D a few years ago and loved the feel of the camera and the silent shutter but hated the slow start up and browsing through images.I switched to the 20D but brought it back because of the horrible shutter noise and small LCD.Me still wanted a small body to complement my big and heavy 1D bodies and was very…

Two words - "Ah " - "Mazing "

Okay, I cheated. But this camera is really AMAZING! I giggled for quite a while before pulling the trigger. Spring. I think I just removed my Nikon F4s. And I LOVE this camera! I got it just before my son appeared in A Midsummer Night's Dream. This isn't my first digital camera, but I've NEVER, EVER, EVER taken it to an event like this. They rarely (read: never) fail in low light, and I NEVER had a usable picture of the scene. With all the good things I've read about the 30D, I took a chance…

It's 2014. Anything to worry about?

Let me answer the question at the beginning of this review for those who are not inclined to read everything: the answer is a definite "probably". If you're an advanced photographer, you probably won't be looking at a 30D anyway (unless you needed a DSLR for an emergency like I did), but for the following list of people this is a GREAT place to start: - New photographers - First time owners of one DSLR - students or those on a budget - people looking for a cheap DSLR that still takes good…

Pros
  • Lithium-ion battery operated; saves images to CF cards
Cons
  • So far so good

Besides a great camera.

To be honest, the Canon EOS 30d is a masterpiece of engineering. I've had the camera for about four months now, no complaints. Here are some pros and cons of the Canon 30d: Prose) You get excellent build quality. You get a magnesium alloy body rather than the plastic body found on lower-quality entry-level Nikon and Canon DSLRs. It doesn't appear to be "cheap," which is quite reassuring. A weatherproof housing is definitely important. b) You will get a high quality LCD screen. Most entry-level…

Pros
  • High-speed and low-speed continuous shooting (5 fps and 3 fps respectively)
Cons
  • Nothing here

Reliable and beautiful + Made in Japan

I have ordered a Revain Canon 30D camera body through another supplier. When I opened the box, I noticed that the plastic bag containing the instructions was torn down the middle and there were dust spots on the camera mirror. I was a little concerned if this was a return. However, I dusted it off and took a few hundred test shots. The camera works great and I'm glad I bought it. Although initially it wasn't my choice. Having already owned multiple cameras and lenses from Canon, Nikon and…
