I've been using this for a few weeks now and haven't noticed any problems. It works exactly as I expected. When using an EF-S lens, image size matches the smaller framing sensor for images, but this seems controllable in video. Continuous autofocus works well and my 24-105L works better with my a7riii than my T3i with this adapter. One downside is that you don't get continuous autofocus when shooting videos.

When it works, it's great, but it's inconsistent.

In general, a wonderful thing. Being able to use my Canon lenses on my new a7RIII is a miracle. However, the autofocus results do not match with this adapter and the instruction manual is difficult to find and interpret online. On my 24-105L the adapter works very well when it works. Probably not as fast as the native lens, but fast enough. However, every time I turn on the camera, the adapter doesn't work at all. Just hunt and hunt. The only way to fix this is to turn the camera off and onโ€ฆ

We highly recommend purchasing a cheaper mount instead of meta cost!

Trying to see if my Canon lenses can be saved and used on a Sony mirrorless body. It doesn't work for me and costs money. First, the lens and body mount is very tight, which can be a good thing as it seals out all dust. Secondly, it is very important that I have tried all my Canon L series lenses, most of the lenses focus very slowly and the eye focus does not work. (16-35/2.8, 24-105/4, 24-70/2.8, 70-200/2.8 IS II, 100-400/4, 35/1.4, 50/1.2, 85/1.2, 100/2.8L macro ) all attached lenses and the

The only brand of adapter I would recommend

I am a professional photographer just transitioning from Canon to Sony. I've tried a few different ways to fit my existing Canon lenses to the A7III but shelved everything else and ended up with this one. Metabones is the only program I've found reliable enough for regular use. The autofocus might still be searching more often than you're used to from some lenses. My 70-200mm and 100mm macro struggle more than when used on a Canon body, but neither are so bad that they can't be used. Changingโ€ฆ

Overpriced / A7iii in lens accessories

I have a Sony A7iii and this smart adapter and a Sigma MC-11. These are all the lenses I tried on the A7iii with both adapters: Canon 100-400 IS USMConon 100-400 IS II USMTamron 24-70 F2.8 (Canon EF mount) Canon 70-200 F2.8 USM for almost all with one lens The Sigma MC-11 has the best autofocus speed and accuracy. I have updated the firmware on my A7iii, MC-11 and this T Smart Adapter. Nothing matters. The only lens that doesn't have the same level of performance as the cheaper MC-11 is theโ€ฆ

Maybe the best? to lens accessory

I've been shooting with Canon for 15 years and I have some lenses that I really like. I'm about to switch to Sony mirrorless cameras and I bought the A7 III. This works well with some lenses, although it's nowhere near the speed of Sony's native glass. They are just incredibly fast and accurate. This should be a general expectation. Don't expect miracles and you will be happy. I wish I could test this side by side with other, cheaper adapters, but I'd have to buy them all and then return theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • I have no bad feelings, it's just fine

I ordered and returned the Revain Metabones V Adapter for Sony a7RIII after two days of use because I couldn't get the adapter to keep focus on my Canon lenses. I then wrote a negative review to Revain about this experience. However, I've read over and over again that this should work and that many Canon users have had some success. I ordered another one from Revain and received it two days ago. This time I downloaded the Metabones Version V guides and information sheets from their website andโ€ฆ

MB V Advanced Mode may stop freezing on Sony A7iii

Note: I previously wrote this response to another person's review about MB V freezing on their Sony. I'll quote my previous answer and add an update below." We have Sony A7ii and a7iii. We also have Metabones IV and Metabones V. We also have Canon 70-200 2.8 L is II and other Canon lenses (and Tamron & Sigma). Our MB V EF-E T randomly freezes both Sony cameras. Our MB IV doesn't freeze our Sony cameras (although it hunts often). I took the lenses, adapters and cameras to my local Shutterbugโ€ฆ
