High Performance Carburetor Rebuild Kit with Brass Floats for Edelbrock 1477, 1400, 1404, 1405, 1406, 1407, 1411, 1409 Review

The only useful thing in the kit are the gaskets, all the other parts inside don't fit properly in the carburettor, the threading is wrong and on some too long or just not the right size. The holes in the floats are too small and need to be drilled out. I had to buy a new set to restore it. Save time and money and just buy a conversion kit from Edelbrock.

carburetor kit gasket does not fit 1405 as they say, poor quality floats, the saw is thin, try to adjust the float level and they easily break off without pressure. ball valve. and i also ordered the booster springs and they never came, that suggests something happened and can't be delivered, the whole order was a mess, just order from elderbrock except for a headache.

This was the right kit for my carburettor but very poor quality. Throttle screw was not fully screwed in. It had to be cut off 1/8 inch. The new brass nozzles could not be screwed in completely. I had to use my old ones. There are no instructions. The hole in the pump for the linkage was too small and had to be drilled out. Cut to fit the gasket. The list goes on and on.

Carburetor Replacement Kit 1405/1406. The slot in the top of the seat is not wide enough for a flat head screwdriver that wide. I had to use a dremmel just to stick a flat blade in it. The seat is too big for the supplied needles (see picture). Needles set too low - had to reuse Edelbrock #1477 saddle. I've rebuilt a few dozen Cater/Edelbrock AFB carburetors over the years and when my son's carburetor needed a rebuild this kit seemed spot on. I was fooled by the $25 price tag and brass floats with local kits costing $50.50. None of the parts have been used. Serious modifications would be required to use the top seal, the accelerator pump piston didn't even touch the cylinder walls, the floats were so large that if they were used there would be no fuel left to start the engine, the float seats

I have never written reviews but felt it necessary this time. I ordered this kit for my carburetor Edelbrock 1409. Edelbrock 1406 marine version without vacuum connections. I knew exactly what was in the kit from the picture posted and I have no doubts about it. That being said, there were issues I had with this kit.
