The filter leaked and then fell apart. I should have listened to the bad reviews!

Since Cardone says they will not honor their warranty on their replacement power steering pumps without an in-line filter installed, I ignored all the negative reviews and went ahead and installed it. And sure enough, the filter started leaking and fell apart after a few weeks, just as previous reviewers tried to warn. So my wife lost her power steering while driving and I had to spend some time in mid-January afternoons removing the filter and replacing it with a barbed hose connector. I…

I did not purchase my power steering filters from Revain but I am posting my review here. There are TWO versions of this product, both with Cardone product number "20-0038F". Your results will depend on which one you choose. My first purchase of this product resulted in me getting an earlier version that leaked after 20,000 miles. This earlier version connects the two halves of the aluminum case together with an external steel wire clamp. Over time, this clip wore away the soft aluminum "ring"…

Goes great with my 2000 Passat

I just replaced the steering rack and it took two days of work and it was quite a messy and complicated project. Rack Rebuilder (Cardone) insists on installing this filter. The PS tank in my Passat has a built-in strainer and that's all I really need for filtering. It doesn't have a magnet though, so I can see the value of that extra filter.
