🔧 Remanufactured Power Steering Gear by Cardone - Model 27-8416 Review

This remanufactured power steering product failed within a month, leaving me stranded on the side of the road. The only positive was the initial easy installation. However, the product simply cannot handle the demands of high performance automotive needs. Avoid at all costs.

Perfect fit. The main return process was quick and easy. The return of the core was free. Bought to fix stiff cold weather steering on a 2000 Xterra 4WD. Worked like a champ. After installation, you need to clean the system. The built-in magnetic filter is highly recommended. Requires a rod puller and 1-5/8 socket wrench to remove rod nut. Cardone will reduce the core refund amount if the sprockets are burned. Steering in a 20 year old car, like new, like new.

Looks pretty decent. The wheel is now turned a few degrees to the right. It looks like the gears have been cut a few degrees in one direction. This is a small issue that can be fixed with alignment. Although personally I think it should match the part I removed. I'm a mechanic by trade and all the splines have been aligned, I've triple checked. I've installed the steering box many times, at least 5 in the last year, so it's not inexperience. The cogs feel a bit tight in the middle of the wheel…
