Beautiful.: Fish & Aquatic Pets

I painted the gravel for my Betta but found that some people had trouble getting toxins into the water. So I have it. I LOVE how natural and vibrant it makes my rooster rooster's 5.5 gallon live plant aquarium. It's small enough to hold plants, but not so small that it can be lifted as easily as regular sand.

Pros
  • Heavy Duty Finish
Cons
  • Volume

Tiny fine gravel very natural

It's fine gravel, not sand! I used two five pound bags in my 7.5. I could go with a package. It is a dark brown with a golden hue with occasional dark spots. Looks very fresh and natural. It holds up great when you're mopping up gravel. I grow live plants in aquariums. I love it! I have sand in another pool and I like this fine gravel better.

Pros
  • Great for a small house
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Nice and clean

Nice natural sand. It is littered with colorful large grains of sand. Some are clear quarts, others are red, brown, etc. The sand is lighter in person than in the product photo, but overall it's still a warm yellowish color. It comes with some cleaning chemical to help with dust, but it wasn't very dusty. The 5 pound bag was just the perfect amount for my 5 gallon tank. The price is a bit expensive but definitely a good product for the price.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • unreliable

Fine gravel not sand

I didn't want to buy this scope without seeing it because the company calls it 'sand' and it was larger in the photos. So I bet it would look like the photos and I wasn't disappointed. This is a clean, fine gravel that I wanted to add to my regular aquarium gravel to give a more natural look and give the plants in the tank a nicer rooting medium. I didn't use the water cleaning solution that came with it, I just rinsed the gravel 4 or 5 times with running water until it ran clear. I added it to

Pros

Mr. Bogus is a lucky turtle!

I have a 20 year old spiny softshell turtle. Aside from eating, his favorite pastime is digging and digging in the sand. Unfortunately, this has resulted in a new pump/filter having to be purchased about every 3 months as fine sand particles wear out the motor or impeller. I was willing to go for a bare-bottomed tank, but I felt it was cruel to deny instinctive behavior. So I thought to try this one. And it's wonderful! The granules are large enough not to affect the filter function, but small…

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • So-so
