I purchased this product and it arrived broken, I put the battery in and the door/cover would not open. At first I thought it was the battery so I tried another new battery straight out of the box and it still didn't work. I bought this adapter because I lost another adapter that I used for my VHS tapes when I moved to a new apartment. This one arrived quickly, in good condition, not damaged or anything like that. Works perfectly. Have used it on many VHS tapes since receiving it. Requires one AA battery (not included). I bet it was littered with fake reviews: five stars and cartoons in bad english. I had something similar a few years ago but got rid of it thinking I had done a VHS C-tape to digital transfer. I was hoping my old VHS-C cassettes would play on a regular VHS player as advertised . When I put in a small cassette and plugged this adapter into the VHS player, the cassette would not advance to play. He would have rewound it, but he didn't play it. The adapter didn't come out of the VHS player so I had to disassemble the VCR to get it. Revain's return policy was great so I got a full refund but I'm disappointed that the adapter doesn't work as advertised.
