The closest thing I've found to riding tennis shoes.

I used to have Cavallo hoof boots but my mare was cut short enough to fit a size 3 and her hooves would soften if she wasn't wearing boots. I increased the size to a 4, and while I worried the circus tents would be too loose, they stayed in place on a 3.5-mile ride over rough, rocky trails. They slip on and off easily, like tennis shoes on a horse. I ride barefoot in the arena, but the park trails are often patchy gravel on hard dirt tracks and it's just uncomfortable for even a horse that…

They are durable and won't fall off

After buying 10 more pairs I finally found boots that I like. My 2 horses had problems with abscesses and laminitis and needed gaiters that they could wear for a long, long time. While I was concerned about the lack of much cushioning, they seem to have gotten the job done. I wanted leather and they held, not a single rip or tear and although they were a bit sloppy after trimming they didn't fall off or curl sideways. A company employee recommended typical "cloth, canvas" boots, the same…

Works well to keep a chronic abscess clean and protected.

Works as advertised. I use a pair of these boots on a broodmare with a chronic abscess. She has treated them well and can walk in them. She wears them out to pasture about 14 hours a day and I alternate between two different pairs to keep me clean and dry. When using boots for abscesses or hoof injuries, be sure to consider the hoof wrap when determining the correct size. I had to order a barefoot size to accommodate the hoof wrap/wrap. One problem is that dirt/dust/dirt can accumulate in…

How wide is your horse's hoof? Available in slim sizes.

I bought these for my mare QH who is 31 years old and has hoof problems. Her hoof is 5 inches long so fits a size 3. The length was perfect and they look fine unlined but you can get the lining separately which I need. BUT the width was too wide and I didn't realize they sell narrower boots. If your horse's hoof is two sizes or more narrower than its length, you need to buy narrow boots. So I had to return this shoe but returning it was so easy and free. UPS came to my house to pick them up and

Love Love Love Best in Other Sports

I tried these boots on after my TB mare had her shoes so tight she had nothing to wear. She couldn't walk barefoot without losing weight while riding. I had some trouble finding the right size, but the excellent return policy was a lifesaver. My mare, who is a princess, actually spans both sizes 2 and 3. She is size 2 after shearing but will grow to size 3. I use both size 3 bandages and gel pads. They are great. I stick them on her after I pick her up from the pasture and then I ride. I drove…

Great alternative to horseshoes

I love plain Cavallo boots and keep 2 pairs for each of our riding horses. Sometimes I only use the front pair but when riding real rocky terrain I use all 4. We used to shoe our horses which overall made a lot of money when we couldn't even ride for those 6 weeks. For a little more than what I pay for a set of 4 shoes, I can buy a pair of boots. Now when we have times when we can't ride, I don't feel guilty about the money being spent on shoes. My first set (4) has served me for several years…
